Amazing hotel, amazing service
Just returned from a 5 day trip to Cancun and we couldn't have been more impressed with this Marriott. It doesn't look like much when you drive up but it's a beautiful hotel. There are tons of resorts with themes and that look newer but we would never stay anywhere else after our experience here. The lobby is gorgeous, sparkling clean, and provides a great view of the ocean. It's located in what we thought was the perfect spot and the beach was clean, well appointed, and beautiful. Check-in was easy and they upgraded our room to a better view. The views are absolutely incredible. Room was spotless, modern yet comfortable, great bathroom and a great balcony. And the price was fantastic, we could not believe how affordable the room was for what we got! Don't get fooled into paying more for the JW, which is right next door, the CasaMagna is 5 stars and every bit as luxurious (if not more) than the JW. All interactions with the staff were above and beyond. Everyone here greets you in the friendliest manner (even the staff buffing the floors and tending to the landscape). My husband forgot his old ipad charger and they had one on hand and let us borrow it. Door staff was quick to help with taxis and even calling a restaurant we wanted to go to and reserving a table for us and letting them know we were on our way.Victor was our server every day at the pool and the service was better than a high-class steak house. On our second day, he remembered us, what we had to drink the day before, and what we had ordered. He was so friendly, had lots of great tips for our visit and on top of everything gave us the best service we have had at any restaurant. We made a point to sit where he was working after that. My husband and I are still shocked at the level of impressive service in all of Cancun but especially at a hotel pool. I hope someone from Marriott reads this and gives him some recognition because he is a hard worker and takes such pride in his job. The breakfast buffet was incredible, lots of options to choose from (fresh squeezed juice, mexican food, sushi and asian choices, oatmeal, cereal, bacon, fresh made waffles, pancakes, french toast, hashbrowns, plantains, meats and cheeses, tons of breads and pastries, chips and salsa/guac, yogurt, fruit, eggs and an omelet station). For $25 we were very happy and the bacon was delish-perfectly crispy and not the cheap kind of bacon, the good stuff. We also ate at Sasi, the thai restaurant on the property. Not only was the food amazing but the service was excellent here as well. The passion fruit martinis, fried rice, and the Saturday night Indian buffet were all excellent. The hotel has also been protecting sea turtle nests and has an event each night at 7pm where they allow hotel guests to release a baby turtle that has just hatched into the sea. It was a great experience to get to send one of the cute little babies out into the wild, I"m so happy we were here to do this. This helps them get into the water and not get eaten by birds. The hotel monitors the turtles coming ashore and moves the eggs to a safe place that is fenced off so that the nests are undisturbed and protected from beach goers. Great for kids and adults alike. Cancun has been getting some negative press lately but we never felt unsafe and more than anything we were so impressed. We tend to go to Cabo a lot but we are new found fans of Cancun and we will be back to this hotel. PS-do swim with the whale sharks if you come between May-Sept, highly recommend. We travel a lot and I travel at least 2 weeks a month and I have stayed at great places and the service here is at the very top. I always get great service at Marriott properties but the CasaMagna is above and beyond. The location was perfect, great dining choices on site or close to the property, the beach was beautiful, the pool was also very impressive, and the service was top notch. I rarely feel compelled to write reviews unless my experience was fantastic or terribly. Simply not enough time with all the places I go so for me to take the time to write a review means something. And to be this impressed, with as well traveled as I am, is a testament to this Marriott.
