 Relaxing trip
My husband and I have just returned from the Royal Sands Resort. I must start by saying how amazingly clean this hotel is. It is very visible with the amount of staff that are there constantly doing some form of tidying - very impressive. Our room had a great view of the huge pool and the ocean which was lovely to wake up to every morning. The buffet style breakfast and lunch although very similar on a daily basis offers a lot of variety. It was nice to visit the same restaurant in the evening and experience the different theme nights that they hold. The day time entertainment wasn’t pushy at all, you got involved if you wanted to but if you didn’t there was no pressure. My only criticism of this hotel from a personal point of view was that there was no entertainment during the evening, obviously there is the sports bar but to be honest I wasn’t overly impressed with this area. The Cancun nightlife is there if you want it and only a cheap bus ride away. Buses are incredibly frequent and cheap, and run well into the early hours. I felt very comfortable using the public transport. We did go to Coco Bongo’s one evening and although it’s quite expensive and very busy the show they put on is fantastic show and the staff work really hard to bring you your drinks as quick as they can but the place gets packed.I must make a point of how outstanding the staff are at the Royal Sands Resort, there are so many. Always happy and smiling, telling the odd joke here and there, no way can I fault the service in any way, shape or form. In particular we found Damian (one of the waiters) to partially stand out to us, he would ask us about our day and was always very attentive, he is a credit to the team. There are so many other staff that I would like to thank for their service but I didn’t manage to get all their names. All in all we had a relaxing holiday and I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cancun.

The Royal Sands Resort and Spa-- The best!
The Royal Sands is always a top notch vacation. The accommodations, food, and staff are exceptional. We have been coming for over 30 years and we are always pleased with the 5 star resort! The food is spectacular along with the service. They have recently refurbished all the units so the couches, chairs, tables and so on are all new.

Miguel at the phase 1 pool bar was GREAT! Highly attentive and never let my drink dry up! Highly recommend this place and especially this guy as your bar tender - He truly puts an outstanding face to the service provided by your resort.More

 Royal Sands - Oct 2017
Overall we had a very good experience at the Royal Sands but we did experience a few issues that would have made our stay very satisfactory. First, we went to go to the Conquistador for dinner one night and we called the restaurant to make a reservation about 45 minutes before we showed up to the restaurant and were able to get a reservation but when we showed up the maitre d' would not seat us because I was not dressed appropriately (I had on a nice pair of khaki shorts, a nice pair of sperrys, and a nice v-neck shirt). The maitre d' also tried to tell us that if we had called he would have told us there was a dress code; which we did call and he did not say a word about the dress code. When we got back to the Royal Sands we went to Hacienda Sisal for dinner and did not have any problem eating there with my outfit. When we got back to the room we checked the Resort book, which clearly stated that both the Conquistador and Hacienda Sisal had the same exact dress code but we were denied entry into the Conquistador but not Hacienda Sisal. The maitre d' was rude and tried to tell us that we did not call when we did call and spoke directly to him when we made our reservation. Second, my girlfriend and I got 90 minute massages one night at 7:15PM. My girlfriends massage was not remotely satisfactory and actually resulted in her being more sore than when she first got the massage. Once the massage was over the masseuse quickly skipped away, almost running, to leave for the night. The next morning, my girlfriend woke up with pink eye in her left eye from the massage table, which ultimately spread to her right eye. In addition, my girlfriend also now has a subdural hematoma, which has caused almost half of her eye to be red/purple. Aside from the Conquistador and massages, the staff at Sidelines, La Veranda, Hacienda Sisal, and pool bars were great. The staff is always very friendly and we have come to know a lot of the staff over the vacations that we have taken to the Royal Sands.

2 times a year love to come here.
Rooms have been upgraded in last year. Villas are first class. Activities are the ones I love, water aerobics, water volleyball. Also beach volleyball, corn hole games. Swimming pools are really nice. One has a lap pool. Restaurant has a new chef and wonderful buffets.More

 Typical Royal Resorts Hospitality
If you are an all-inclusive guest you might very well be satisfied. If you are an owner at the Royal Sands you will lament the drop off in quality due to some guests who do not exhibit good taste or responsibility for their actions.More

We will miss the Caribbean and the Islander
Have not stayed here in over a decade, only visited. Decided to use the week we own for the first time. The resort and staff were good and everything was up to standards. Did not enjoy the all inclusive environment. Drunks at the swim up bars doing shots and locust descending on the buffet. It reminds me of a land based cruise ship. Endless line of people pass by from the buffet with piles of food on plates that mostly will go uneaten. Get it quick, it runs out fast. Thomas More now farms you out to local providers. Gone are the days of tours exclusively for Royal members. You get to spend an hour driving around picking up and then dropping off at other hotels.Don't get me started about time share point systems. Royal Resorts has managed to come up with the most expensive one we have seen so far. Even the discovery package was some 40% higher than some of the top brand names.

 Love Royal Sands!!
So I loved this place so much i came back twice in a month. The service was amazing! Starting with Omar from concierge he was super helpful on both of my trips. He helped make dinner reservations and gave suggestions on where to eat. We spend most of our time at the bar and we never had to wait for drink our bartender Miguel Diaz and Luis Cano were amazing. Loved the resort but will return because of the people working here. They made both of my trips memorable.

Royal Sands a very good place to stay
We have stayed at Royal Resort properties for the last 11 years & we love staying there - while they are not as good as they have been in the past on resort conditions, guest services, associated activities, & cleanliness they are still very good. We were very sad to learn that they have discontinued karaoke at Pancho & Willies (karaoke was the only real reason to go there and other than specific planned "free" events the only time we saw larger numbers of people there) & have in the past found that the karaoke at Royal Cancun & Royal Haciendas is substantially sub-par - we love the Chubbies Karaoke at Royal Sands & Royal Caribbean and wish they would have it at "all" the resorts.Restaurants - Captain's Cove service & food was good, but the adjacent music at Pancho & Willies sports bar was *VERY* loud to the point where we couldn't really have a nice conversation (and our waiter did nothing to resolve the problem, he simply said "...that's Pancho & Willies..." and went back to his station). El Conquistador food & service was excellent, we did however have to wait quite a while when our server had to prepare 10 individual bills for another table (not his fault but could be addressed better with someone to help with the bills). La Veranda, food was ok but they needed a couple more servers most of the time - they were on top of things when you were first seated but afterwards were sometimes hard to find. We also found that there was often a wait to be seated because they only had 1 person who could do that job.As always the service employees do an excellent job, the only exceptions were our server at Captains Cove who couldn't be bothered to ask that the music volume be turned down and a waiter at the Sands sports bar (Sidelines) who seemingly could *not* get orders right resulting in longer waits for what was really ordered - I had to get up and go order myself and saw others doing the same. There are too few servers at pools and the beach - it seems like there are times when they didn't come by very often and weren't near enough to get their attention (a number of other guests made the same observation and comments to us).Still high pressure to buy a timeshare week & a bit of snobbishness from the sales people towards non-owners (but thankfully that's easily ignored). The non-condo-owners with the all-inclusive packages can only get "small" drinks and standard servings while owners with all-inclusive can get "large" drinks - maybe all-inclusive isn't really "all-inclusive"!With the all-inclusive packages the employees aren't getting anywhere near equivalent tips to what they got previously so we always tipped additionally (I wonder where the "tips included" money from the all-inclusive fee goes?). Also noticed that the beach security was sometimes napping at night and did not really care about protecting/helping the newly hatched turtles. In the past this was a priority, but seemingly now is only "touted" in their adds & literature without being supported by actions. This is still a wonderful place to stay but they need to increase staff a little if they are really serious about guest service.

 Love this Place!
Love this place, it's a place in heaven!!!My 3 year old son came for the first time and he loved it! La Veranda is the best! Needless to say GERARDO ESTRADA who works at La Veranda was our waiter. I must say he was Excellent! He was very attentive and everyday asked how we were doing and made sure we were well and enjoying ourselves even if someone else was our waiter! We can't wait to go back next year!!! Like I stated our little place of heaven.

Very popular, but not the place for me.
It's a massive complex and I could see that it's very popular, with families returning year after year.Hotel upgraded my reservation to a suite when I arrived. Lobby and rooms have a strong smell of air freshener (but a fragrance which I didn't quite like). Perhaps it was supposed to keep the mosquitoes away. The main restaurant tends to be busy as it's quite small for the number of people on the resort. The resort has other restaurants but most people seem either to not be aware or can't be bothered to walk or travel the distance to eat in a different place. The beach is beautiful but the sea, at the time I was there, was a bit rough - was told this was due to the recent hurricane Irma. Could still swim but due to the roughness, could not see much sea life.Next to the Ritz Carlton (about a 3 minute walk along the beach from the Royal sands) there's a turtle hatchery (one of only two in Mexico I'm told). We released 350 baby turtles (hatched only a few hours before) into the sea. Definitely worth visiting.Friendly staff. Air conditioning in the room was VERY noisy. Would recommend if you're looking for a lovely Mexican beach holiday on a budget.

 a bit disappointed
We have been coming to the Royal Sands since 2000 when we purchased a time share there. The last few years have been a real disappointment. From not being able to get a straw with your drink to having staff flat tell you no they won't help. The Sands was better before the "All Inclusive" business started.

The Royal Sands is a great place to have a getaway. Once you are there, you will not want to leave! The staff works hard to make sure your trip is care free and everything you could want is taken care of. Also, safe trips are easy to find through the resort and offer options for a different groups and interests!

Great visit for 2 weeks 8/26 to 9/9/17. 12 the 1st week and 5 the second.
As usual everything was great. Hurricanes to the north, west, and east plus an earthquake to the south. Cancun had 1 1/2 somewhat rainy days and a 30 second trimble out of all of them. The pool bar farthest south was our hangout. Patricio, Raul and Gabriel took great care of us each day and helped make the vacation special. Very Special bartenders. Upon arrival and departure Robert Vasquez took excellent care of us like family. Ask for him. Cannot go wrong here.

 Relaxing Getaway!
We had a great time. The hotel is big. The rooms are huge and they all face the pool and ocean. The customer service from every person we encountered was superb. I would like to point out the service Giovanni and Marco Manuel gave us at the bar by the pool. They were friendly and paid attention to detail. We wanted to try more than one drink and they gave us several options. All of their service during the 7 days we were there, was always done with a smile. We even ordered ice cream from this guys and they brought it from the restaurant themselves. Truly thankful for the great experience. Gio if you see this, Thank you!

Great time at the Royal Sands!
My wife and I had a fantastic time at the Royal Sands. The professional staff, incredible facilities, super programs and excursions coordinated through Thomas Moore made for a memorable stay from our arrival at Cancun International Airport all the way through our departure. Always sad to leave this great place....already looking forward to going back!

En La Veranda está mi familia
We have been coming to the Royal Sands for 12 years now and we have come to love the staff at the Char Hut and especially at La Veranda. No matter where in the world we have been, the people we have come to call family are the people who work at the Royal Sands. At La Veranda, Felipe Cupul always goes that extra little bit to make us feel right at home. His good manners and his professionalism are impeccable. When we leave to go home we feel we are leaving family behind. When Felipe and Damien Gonzales team up, it is pure magic. They are the best team at La Veranda, and I would match them against any team at any restaurant at any Royal Resorts. So thank you Felipe, and thank you Damien. You are the reasons we love the Royal Sands, and the reason we keep coming back... oh, and the beach is nice too.:-)Mark and RussellMaine, USA

 Good for a week trip.
Love the resort. Love the large pool. Love how clean everything is kept. Love the two bedroom suite. We had a nice room beach front. I would recommend a little away from the middle. Try the black bean soup, and the cevich. The nachos at the pool and really anything. It's all good.

1st night and everything takes ages to get to us! :/
We've been waiting for an activities sheet since 47 minutes ago and Fernando at the front desk only says it is coming, it's our 1st night here and there was no room service menu in the room, and they ask your key, last name, room number and signature for all u request! That's so boring and makes us loose our time. Let's see what other surprises we'll have the next days.

 OK Resort
Stayed for about 8 days in this resort, booked as a last minute deal.Be aware this was an all inclusive resort and also a time share resort, so expect to be pestered about attending seminars. The resort assigns a personal Concierge for your stay and they will suggest places to go, organise booking tours and reservations at restaurants affiliated with other Royal resorts around Cancun.Tours will have discounts but those discounts only apply after you have attended a seminar. So best option is to not book through hotel but to organise separately. It’s no hassle then and you get the same discounted price elsewhere. The Resort has 2 sides, phase 1 and 2. We stayed in phase 2. The resort has 2 pools the first is pretty busy and packed, the second is quieter and has nicer surrounds. Both have swim up bars.Beach is very nice and the water was very warm, so nice to lay in sun and relax. The food was pretty good, with Salsa restaurant being very good.Forget about Captains cove restaurant, food was average as well as the service. The cleaning products that are used gave the resort an odd smell. The units are pretty big with big windows and a nice balcony with nice ocean views, the maids do a terrific job in cleaning, especially cleaning the windows daily. There is also an evening turndown service. The fridge is stocked with bottled water daily, room service can be slow but it seems they have one person doing the service after 10pm.If you need to get around use the local buses, bus stop out the front of the resort, one price 12 pesos one way. This resort is ok but probably wouldn’t stay again

 Great beach vacation!
My wife and I stayed for a week at the Royal Sands to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was a great vacation, mainly due to the terrific staff and beautiful pool and beach. The service at the pool and beach was particularly good. Our favorite server in the pool area, Alberto, always greeted us by name and remembered our drink order. He was great! Silverio was another great server at the pool. I can't overstate how good the service was on our trip! The room was clean and had a great view of the pool area. The restaurants at the Royal Sands were pretty good, and there were multiple options for every meal. If you have the Refine all-exclusive package, you also get access to the restaurants at the other 3 Royal resorts in Cancun. I highly recommend Hacienda Sisal (near Royal Sands) and Captain's Cove (near the Royal Caribbean), which has great views for a sunset dinner. The options for late night dining and drinking we limited. The last spot open was a sports bar that stopped serving food at 10, and drinks at 11. However, there was 24 hour room service, so that was no problem for us.All in all, this was a very enjoyable stay!

Tenth year here and still our favorite vacation
This is our tenth year in a row and we still feel like we have come home. They are so welcoming and helpful. They really go out of their way to make sure that all of your wishes are met. La Veranda Restaurant and the Char Hut are great places to eat.

 Wonderful Resort and Staff
I have been to all the Royal Resorts but the Royal Sands is by far my favorite and have been there probably half a dozen times at least. Rooms are very large, nice.and clean with HUGE balconies. I can't say enough about all of the staff they are spot on. If anyone ever had a bad experience there they must have not been in the right mindset. Jose Patricio Moo Poot can be found behind the swim up bar 6 days a week and is the best bartender ever. Believe me I know because I was a bartender for many years and it can be a tough job. He is Johnny on the spot and can see you coming from across the pool and wave at you... he is absolutely a living doll. Pablo Chuc is the head food and beverage manager and pays very close attention to everyone and everything. He will take time to sit and talk to you and answer any questions about the Cancun area and what you have been doing. Then there is Miguel Jimenez who is the pool captain and another fine man who will go out of his way to make your stay so enjoyable. There is a new Sushi bar and we lived on the wonderful Tuna and Salmon Sashimi and rolls. Wilfredo "Willie" runs that restaurant and sports bar. All the waiters in there are great. On karaoke night it was packed not a table to be had and they went out and brought in a table and two chairs for us and smacked it down right by the bar. In the second phase there is Mario at the Char Bar who is another employee that is of suburb value. There is a huge sandy beach with chairs and thatch umbrellas. There is bar and waiter service on the beach. You can see sea turtles at night at certain times of the year when they come up and lay their eggs. The resorts have a protected hatchery from the birds on the beach where if you are lucky enough you can watch the babies be released. I can't say enough about this resort I will be back real soon. I consider them not only friends but my Mexico family.

Staff Appreciation - Thanks to Iranza and Eva for going above and beyond
We had made reservations for dinner and it was raining so hard we could not walk the 5 minutes to the restaurant. Iranza and Eva saw us looking forlorn without an umbrella and offered us a lift. We cannot thank them enough for taking note of our plight, making a detour on their way home from work, and for their pleasant dispositions.

 Laundry room
I am down here in Cancun for 2 weeks, so I had to do laundry during my stay. I have been coming here for years and Iselda Rodriguez has been taking care of me and my family during our stay. She greets us at the door with her friendly smile, the laundry room is impeccably clean and efficiently organized. She makes doing laundry a pleasure!

 Outstanding
The service staff is excellent, in particular the waiters an bartenders. Gustavo waited on us for breakfast and lunch every day. He made us feel at home and went out of his way to please us. I want to mention another outstanding service from the bar. Giovanni Mendez handled a very busy pool bar with ease. He was very efficient, friendly and quick getting my drinks to me. Lastly, kudos to Rodolfo who greeted us when we arrived and helped us make shuttle reservations, restaurant reservations and any other information or help we needed. These are just three of the many staff members that made our visit memorable.

 Family
Family is what the Royal Resorts is about to me. It starts with the "welcome home" we are greeted with upon arrival. As a longtime Royal Resorts member/owner, I never tire from hearing this. Returning year after year, the staff becomes part of our extended family. When I arrive on Saturday, I look for my brother, Luis Cano, a bartender and exemplary employee at the Royal Sands. The bartenders work a rotating schedule at the different bars at the resort. My family doesn't rotate from the pool bar. :) Bar management likes happy members. They are very accommodating of our request to rotate Luis to the pool bar for our week. A special thank you to, Luis Munoz, Wilbert Adrian and Pablo Chuc. You make our family happy!

 Happy Customer
My wife and I just celebrated our 1 year anniversary. We stayed at the Royal Sands & Spa. We loved our stay and would recommend this to anyone. Our pool waiter Gustavo Hernandez is the best. He provided excellent service and very friendly. He is just a great person overall. Hope he is there when we come back next year. Thank you for the services, laughter, and overall experience Gustavo. The Royal Sands gained a customer for life.

2 weeks at the Royal Sands
We always enjoy the relaxing 2 weeks at the Royal Sands every year. Great staff, beautiful views, and a clean well maintained facility. This is the only place that I have seen power scrubbing the tile walkways around the pools.More

Loved the hotel hated their wifi!
I want to start off with the hotel was beautiful, clean, up to date with technology, our room had the best view over looking the pool area and ocean from the 8th floor balcony. The hotel staff were very attentive, kind, helpful and genuine. They were also very good at taking down driver information every time we got picked up and dropped off from the different tour's we took every day. The all inclusive was nice because we were able to enjoy free breakfast, lunch, and dinner every night same with drinks (however, never did the drinks ever give us a buzz as much as we tried which is crazy since i'm a light weight drinker... *interesting*) But anyway, the only real negative I can address about the hotel was their Wi-Fi, such horrible Wi-Fi service I couldn't believe it, you would think that since you're paying a lot of money to stay here the least they can do is provide some decent Wi-Fi, especially since there's not much to do at the hotel other than swim, tan, eat....

 Our Favorite Place
The Royal Sands Resort and Spa ALWAYS treats us special from the moment we arrive. We love all the activities, painting, pool aerobics, water volleyball, Bingo, etc. and the servers are so attentive. Spotless rooms, great attention to detail, beautiful views, fabulous food in all the restaurants and especially Captains Cove.

 Excellent Food & Beverage Team
Special shout out to Jose Gonzulos in the swim up bar. Jose and the team were excellent. Very attentive to our needs, remembered our names, beverages and always had a smile on their face. Angel, Miguel, Louis C. were always there to assist and serve as well. Thank you all from Rebecca, Lauren and Terri

 I will be back
We just got back last night from a 7 day stay. We book this resort within a week of going. We had a trip to Daytona but hurricane Irma changed that for us. This resort is wonderful. Very clean the rooms have the best working AC I've ever had in Mexico. The pool was always spotless as well as the entire resort. The food is good. They have a sushi bar called the sand bar we went to almost every night. One night we were there and a member (this is a timeshare resort) made it very clear with his loud voice all inclusive members were not welcome!! He was talking to a friend one table over an he was very blunt to make sure we heard his opinion on us. One jerk isn't going to ruin my vacation. My husband an I respected the resort an never "ruined" a members stay. Anyways, the beach is awesome. Plenty of palpas for shade. The resort was not crowded due to it being slow season. It's an older crowd an by that I mean mostly 35 plus age group. We are in our young 40's so it's perfect for us. Our favorite bartender Pedro from the beach bar was amazing. So nice an friends as was 95% of the staff. The front desk staff need to work on being more friendly. Especially in Phase II. If you book this resort you will not be disappointed.

 A wonderful Week !
This was our first time staying in Cancun! It was also our first time at The Royal Sands! I have traveled with my job for many years and have stayed in some amazing hotels in all of my travel!! This is a first class resort! The staff do an amazing job of making you feel special every single day! They continuously cleaned and worked hard to make our room, the beach, the restaurants sparkle! The smiles and the happy to help you attitude spoke volumes! The care that the employees take of the hotel, along with the food, made you feel like they were truly happy to be there taking care of your needs. Daily trips to the Char Hut were my favorite!!! Miguel Diaz, Gabriel Ouh and of course Isabel were amazing!!!! Always smiles and it made you feel like you were part of their family. Isabel prepared the food with the special touches of an accomplished chef!! Maria did a wonderful job in keeping our room clean and the bed turned down! It was a fun and restful trip!

Royal Resorts - The Royal Sands
The Royal Sands resort is the perfect vacation destination for both families and couples alike. Me and my fiancée recently stayed at the Royal Sands for our 3rd straight year and we are still loving it! The resort is kept immaculately clean as are the rooms. All service staff is friendly and happy to help in any way they can. The resort provides towels, recreational equipment, and even goggles and flippers to enjoy all that Cancun has to offer. The food has always been amazing and you are never left hungry or thirsty at any time. The drinks can be a little weaker than you might expect but you can always ask for a double shot of your liquor of choice. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting to stay in an all-inclusive resort in Cancun!

 More than we hoped for
This is a wonderful place to stay. The cleanliness, the staff and amenities awesome. we stayed in a two bedroom time share it was all that and more. We were on the all inclusive plan which we felt was worth the money. I must admit that we did not eat many diners here and the only disappointment I had was prime rib night which was an extra charge and it was just so so. The buffet had a verity of choices and at times it would dry out some of the choices but u will not leave there hungry. There are sister restaurants and don't miss el conquistador at the Royal islander and hacienda sisal at the Royal sands. We would come back in a heart beat.

 Great Resort
One of the "Very Best Resorts" in Cancun. Great beach and amazing staff. Even Mauricio the man in charge of the towel bar, has a great sense of service, beyond his job. This resort is part of the Royal Resorts, the company that started the Timeshare industry in Mexico. And still maintains the highest ratings.

My First stay at Royal Sands Resort & Spa
Took my fiancé there as a bday gift as he always wanted to go to Cancun. It was both of us first trip there. Excellent city and beautiful resort. Well kept, pleasant staff, great environment, good food; you have access to a chain of Royal Resorts through the Royal Resorts Charter bus FREE of charge. Public transportation is right in front and takes you to Market 28 shopping area 1/2 hour away. I will definitely revisit. Thinking of taking my mom.

 Anniversary
This is our first time staying but second time visiting The Royal Sands Resort. Our first time in 2015 for our honeymoon and then stayed with them this year (2017) for our anniversary. Both times we had Patricio as our bartender. He went above and beyond for us and he was an AMAZING person!! We will definitely be going back!!

 ok
Overall it was a nice experience but it was annoying to have to move rooms on saturday. It totally cut our day in half and we couldn't do a long excursion like we wanted. Also, we couldn't rent bikes on saturday because it was "too busy"....but it's the off season. AND there were close to zero excursions available to do on sunday because it was the OFF SEASON. So we kinda felt like we got screwed.
