 Best Tacos I've Ever Had!
Dove with Manta Divers next door and had 30 minutes for lunch between dives. My son and I ordered the broiled chicken tacos. We both agreed it was the best we've had anywhere!Service was prompt and friendly. Really wish we had more time to visit again and try another dish - I'm sure they are all excellent!

 I’ve been here many times
I always get the salmon taco because it’s my favorite ! Always yummy drinks too & the staff is very friendly. Free WiFi is also nice . I always recommend to my friends that stay in the area :)

 Awesome tacos!
Just ate here for lunche! El Tacos were amazing. Make you crazy loco so good! We had the bang bang shrimp taco, cancun shrimp taco, hurricane fish taco. Its only one taco per order but they are grande! Like 4 small tacos in one. Their chips and guac were also good! I wouldn’t say their prices are $, but $$. However they score a 10/10 on my tastebuds. Will come back here again!

 Awesome food in a place you would never expect
Shayla was a perky and fun waitress, food was so unexpectedly good and only a short walk from resort. Shrimp tacos, steak tacos and beef nachos all washed down with margaritas frozen or on the rocks are sure to end your day perfectly. Absolute must stop by after day on the beach. !Muy bien!

 Wish we'd found it earlier!
We have been very disappointed with Mexican food so far. It's all been the same in all the places we've been and tasted bland. Until now! We got the bus down and it's only a little hut but had the best food. This is what I thought we'd be eating when we got to Cancun. The menu is great and very hard to choose from. We shared the nachos and guacamole( the best) and the jalapeño poppers. Great. Then I had the spicy butter shrimp tacos which was delicious and he had the Texas beef tacos which went down well. 3 margaritas later and the bill was $66. Payed in dollars or you can do pesos. They have a lovely parrot too. We will be back.

 Best food of our Holiday!
After being quite disappointed with a lot of the Mexican cuisine we had on our holiday we were lucky enough to stumble upon this place. Hands down best food and service of our trip. Great prices and only a short 12 peso bus trip down from Coco Bongo area.

 Halloween at Blue Gecko
Great jalapeño poppers, drinks, and tacos. Lots of fun in a small place. Came with my wife after reading all the reviews and we were not disappointed. The buffalo chicken and roasted chicken tacos were DELICIOUS and the margaritas were good. Short walk (10 mins) from the JW Marriott. We will be back. Only critique, Music could be better.

We stopped by this cute little place for a late lunch and afternoon drinks. Had a nice long visit with the owner and his wife (who is an awesome cook!). The tacos were great, guacamole tasty, and the vibe was fun and festive. Tried to convince the owner to franchise this place! A must go-to while in Cancun!

 Great tacos
This isn't for a romantic night out, but the tacos and margaritas are delicious with maybe a little Americanized touch. Every year we are so happy to see that the place is still there! It's about a mile walk from the Royal Caribbean on the lagoon side and if you are not looking for it, you might go right past. The sidewalk cantina is pretty small, but enlarging it would take away the quaintness. As stated earlier, the food is great and the prices are even better, $6-7 for a large taco. The hotels are charging closer to $10. Kudos to the couple from the US who own the place!!

Great food and service. About a 15 minute walk from the Marriott. Good music and party vibe at night. This place was the highlight of our trip. Thank you, and keep up the good work!

 Something different away from all the fancy places
This is your typical roadside, chillout bar. Small, wooden stools, rustic, by the highyway joint, with one chef and one waitress. But that is all you need. I loved it here, at firdt we only wanted drinks but ended up getting some small bites too. Which were absolutely delicious and the cocktails were fantastic. Service was nice and friendly, with free wifi too. It makes a change if you want to escape from all the fancy money grabbing tourist restuarants that are in the Hotel Zone of Cancun.

 Awesome place for drinks and dinner
Blue gecko is very well located, in the middle of the hotel zone of Cancún. It is a really small bar but the atmosphere there is great! They have a wide menu for food and cocktails, really good prices for Cancún and the cocktails and food are really delicious! We visited on a Monday and the bar was almost full, also waiters are super nice, it is just the perfect place to drink amazing cocktails and have an awesome time. I recommend it 100%

 Great good and alot of Fun!
Blue Gecko was great! The food and drinks were fantastic, especially the texas taco and the bang bang shrimp taco! You can't beat $3 dollar beers! The service was awesome, our waitress Sheila and bartender Raul were loads of fun and made sure everything was perfect! We had a large group and had absolutely no problems. Highly recommend it.

We came to Cancun for 2 weeks and accidentally came across this GEM! Liked it so much we came back twice! Great food, great drinks, great ambiance and GREAT service! Loved the music and REALLY APPRECIATED the free wifi! Sheila & Raul are THE BEST! Loved them! During our visits we had the sampler, the chicken club taco, shrimp tostada, shrimp guacamole, pretty much every flavor margarita & daiquiri and NOTHING disappointed. Must go!

 Amazing deep fried shrimp Tacos!!
We decided to visit Blue Gecko based on trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed! It's a small independent place, serving Mexi-Cali food, Although it isn't quite traditional mexican food, it was really nice for a change. The visit was made particularly special with our outstanding service from Sheila who also suggested other Mexican delicacies during our stay in Mexico.

 Enjoyed the Blue Gecko Cantina
We really enjoyed eating at the Blue Gecko Cantina. We walked along Avenida Kukulkan from the Marriott CasaMagna and were not disappointed. Its a small open-air venue that had excellent food.

 Amazing food
OMG I had the chicken taco salad. Nothing like I got back home. It was amazing cooked onions and peppers with roasted chicken corn and cheddar cheese with sales and guacamole.

We found this place while avoiding some rain on our vacation! Very fun little dive bar. Great tacos and margaritas! We had stopped to buy beer and snacks for our hotel room and the bartender noticed and put it in their fridge while we drank and ate! Very fun place!

Blue gecko is very well located, in the middle of the hotel zone of Cancún. It is a really small bar but the atmosphere there is great! They have a wide menu for food and cocktails, really good prices for Cancún and the cocktails and food are really delicious! We visited on a Monday and the bar was almost full, also waiters are super nice, it is just the perfect place to drink amazing cocktails and have an awesome time. I recommend it 100%

Based on TA reviews we made plans to stop on the way to our hotel. A great decision!! Each had a different taco. Mine was the Texas Taco. Chrispy corn tortilla shell with a beef filling that was amazing. The other dinners also raved about their selection. I have eaten TexMex all my life and all over Texas and can't recall anything that comes close to that good. Next time we are in Cancun this will be a definite stop.

From the delicious frosty cold drinks to the best homemade salsa in Cancun this place had it all. Super clean and kid friendly. Max was an amazing waiter and provided great recommendations that did not disappoint. Huge yummy dessert portions as well!

I cannot put into words how good the food is, when I pictured Mexico this is more how I pictured it, little funky place with amazing food. All the food here that we tried is amazing, the standout for sure if the sauces. The salsa, guacamole and rach sauces are to die for. Certainly going back a few times over the next two weeks For 2 courses each and a cocktail each it come to $49

I tried several different tacos, and they all were excellent! Margaritas are also a specialty here and they did not disappoint. Even my youngest son, who is generally not very adventurous as an eater, LOVED this place and requested we come back again. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. It is not a large place and it is open air, but that just adds to the fun in my opinion. One of my favorite places in Cancun!

Thanks to TripAdvisor reviews we went to this shack for a great meal. Guacamole to share to start, then the Bang Bang Shrimp taco, divine. The staff were fun and friendly, took their advice on a local beer that hit the spot while the cocktail menu did look fantastic too. Well worth a meal there.

Fantastic little restaurant. The food was amazing, the staff were friendly, and the decor was interesting. Definitely worth a visit if you're sick of hotel food, in fact it's worth a visit even if you're not sick of hotel food.

After struggling to find something for dinner in the Hotel Zone we decided to try this out and never looked back. Automatically became a regular for our last 3 nights here! It's not expensive and has a great staff. Definitely recommend stopping in here!

We stumbled upon the Blue Gecko while staying at the Oasis Resort and walking to the local shops. We saw a "shack" that offered frozen drinks during our hot walk. This place is way more than a "shack that offers frozen drinks" the have a large, varied menu (Tacos, Burritos, Nachos and all types of Mexican Fare). The drinks are delicious, large, refreshing and reasonably priced. The service is friendly accommodating and fast. Do your tastebuds a favor and check out the Blue Gecko. We Loved:Spicy Fish Tacos Beef Brisket TacoBang Bang Shrimp Tacos Chips with Guacamole Chips with Salsa

You an call it a Shack, a small restaurant or Street Type Food, but its a must when you visit Cancun !Great Atmosphere, the Owner is involved himself and make sure all the patrons are taken care of. They made some mean margaritas,The Spicy Pork Tacos were the best and they have a wide range of seafood tacos - which are a must as well.We were 6 of us and ordered a bunch of stuff and shared !!Fun night,.. very chilled out ambience if I may add.Must Visit the Gecko - if you are in Cancun

 The best meal we had in Cancun was at this roadside tiki bar.
Arrived in Cancun a few hours early to check in to our hotel. Killed some time exploring the hotel zone in our rental car and getting our bearings. It was around 1pm on a Friday afternoon, we would spend six days and five nights at the Oasis Grand (plus). Little did we know this would be our only incredible meal all week. Our hotel is all inclusive and across the street, it has over fifteen restaurants. It is possible that our chance stop at this particular place set the bar too high and ruined our expectations for anything else all week. I think it is safe to say the food and dining experience we had at the Oasis was horrible. It was such a huge disappointment. All we wanted to do was get back over to the Blue Gecko and we did not make it back again. Months later and we are still talking about how good the food was. Fresh, homade, quick, chill atmosphere. An older gentleman sat at a corner table. Not sure, but possibly the owner? He came over at the end of our meal and asked us if everything was good. Great service.

 Wow what a wonderful place
Don't just walk by. This small place has the best taco's. The fried avocado taco is to die for. They also make terrific drink. Try the Texas iced tea! Lost of fun with the staff and friendly patrons.

We went to Blue Gecko after reading all the rave reviews. When we got to the restaurant, we were kind of surprised to find a small shack-like restaurant. We were hesitant but a little girl who was eating told us that the food was really good so we stayed and so happy that we did. I had the best taco and frozen mojito here! We almost came back a second night but we decided to try the other restaurants instead. Only caveat is that its a little pricey for tacos but the tacos are huge and I think most restaurants in the Hotel Zone are pricey. I regret we didn't go back for seconds!

 This place is amazing!
I don't really like Cancun...too commercialized, so I use it as a jumping off point and try to spend as little time as possible there. We always had a hard time finding a place to eat which wasn't an American franchise (Subway, Outback Steakhouse...ugh), or a touristy Mexican place. Then we found the Blue Gecko. It is on the southern end of Avenida Kukulkan and if you don't pay attention, you'll miss it! It's in a tiny strip mall next to a small convenience shop. The seating is strictly wooden chairs and benches over a thatch roof outside. It can accommodate maybe twenty guests....and that's probably stretching it! The kitchen is open. The food is AMAZING, as is the service. The menu is mostly salads and tacos, and appealing to all tastes; vegan, vegetarian, omnivore. The cocktails were excellent too. Try the Sex on the Beach and the Mojito. Both really good! This place is casual, a nice restaurant to hang out, have a few drinks, watch the passersby, and just chill.

 Impossibly Good
Went with my crew on a airline layover. We all eat out many times a week. So we are hard to please. Every single one of us agreed these were the best tacos we have had. I was so impressed with the quality of their processes. I left early, but the rest of the crew was going back the next day before going to work.

We hit the Blue Gecko 3 or 4 times during our stay. Great variety of tacos at reasonable prices. Staff was very friendly (shout out to Sheila!) and drinks were top notch. Nothing gimmicky about this place, just great food/drinks with really good people. May not look like much from the street but this place is the gem of the Hotel Zone, you must try the Blue Gecko!!

 Customer service loosening
At an establishment geared for ex-pats and tourists to make fast friendships and share travel stories has slipped slightly to business as usual. The reasonable fare still prevails but the staff and overall vibe are not as welcoming or vibrant. The inevitability of success, sometimes.

Relaxing experience with decently priced beverages. The service was good and the place was clean. We were asked if we would like more drinks throughout our experience. Pleasant and would recommend others to come and visit this bar!

 Best tacos ever
I don't know if I could call this place a restaurant since it is so tiny and next to the Kukulcan Blvd than looks more like a bus stop with a roof than a restaurant. Aside from that comment, the food is simply great. Every thing is top quality, the best tacos I've ever eaten in my life. We went there twice and if I ever come back to Cancun we'll visit it again no doubt.

This food is delicious. Atmosphere is great too. Can't beat the price, especially for the quality you are getting. Won't regret it. (Tried the: Texas Taco, Korean BBQ Taco, Jalapeno Poppers, and of course the Guac, all amazing!)

We ate at several places while in Cancun. Luckily, we managed to find this gem before our trip ended. It is a cantina, however​, their tacos were flavourful in a good fullfilling portion. The place has a chill vibe with very friendly staff. I would have loved to find this place earlier to go back because I sure didn't come to Cancun to eat Italian.

Relaxing experience with decently priced beverages. The service was good and the place was clean. We were asked if we would like more drinks throughout our experience. Pleasant and would recommend others to come and visit this bar!

 Best tacos ever
I don't know if I could call this place a restaurant since it is so tiny and next to the Kukulcan Blvd than looks more like a bus stop with a roof than a restaurant. Aside from that comment, the food is simply great. Every thing is top quality, the best tacos I've ever eaten in my life. We went there twice and if I ever come back to Cancun we'll visit it again no doubt.

This food is delicious. Atmosphere is great too. Can't beat the price, especially for the quality you are getting. Won't regret it. (Tried the: Texas Taco, Korean BBQ Taco, Jalapeno Poppers, and of course the Guac, all amazing!)

 Decent food & drinks but small & cramped.
Visited the Blue Gekko with family after having read the rave reviews on TA and given that it was within walking distance from our resort. Found the place very small and cramped and unsurprisingly full. Staff were completely rushed off their feet, but managed to retain their humour and tried their best. Food was good - fried avocados wee amazing. Drinks were average and a bit over-piced. Their Peso-USD exchange rate is higher than market but clearly written up on the wall - so you have been informed up front.

 Good, Maybe I picked the Wrong Taco?
Visited on a Sunday night in July. You sit yourself and then someone brings you a menu, unless you grab one on your way to the community seating area. If they are busy, you will wait a bit before getting greeted and having your order taken. We had been here before in 2014 and remembered it well enough to want to go back. But maybe I just ordered the wrong taco this time...and did the prices go up?? When you peruse the many options for funky combo taco creations, you are seeing the price for one medium soft taco shell filled (some more sparse than others) with the listed ingredients. I tired the Korean BBQ Beef taco, which was okay. Too much BBQ sauce and not enough cabbage to offset the sauce and very small portions of each inside the shell. My bf had the rotisserie chicken which was good, but on the smaller size for the price of the plate. Maybe if we were drinkers we would have enjoyed the food more, but I digress. The server was very pleasant, but working alone from what we saw, and overwhelmed. We think the owner asked us how the food was, but we're not entirely sure since he did not introduce himself. Worth a try if you've never been, but we will most likely not return.
