Blown Away
The supermarket was located about a block from our hotel. We asked a local to direct us to an awesome place for a true Mexican breakfast. Without hesitation he said, “on the second floor of the Chedraui Selecto.” Honestly, I thought he misunderstood my question, as I had asked it in Spanish. Again, he said, “2nd floor of the Selecto. There IS no other option.” So, we went and, WOW what an experience!! The grocery store is 3 stories high, impeccably clean, and has absolutely everything you could fathom. There was a daiquiri bar, crepe station, wood-fired pizzas, buffet line, pastries for days, a sushi bar with conveyor belt, a wine by the glass station, a humidor, and every variety of tequila/liquor and wine you could imagine. We ate overlooking the beautiful view of the lagoon! We joked that the Selecto was nice enough to go to for a date! A glass of wine or a daiquiri while shopping.....what a novel idea!! The only warning is there are tour/time share peddlers as you enter that have their eyes out for the tourists. If you’re in need of tours, hear them out for their prices. If you’ve already bought your tours, say “thanks but no thanks” and go on about enjoying the amazing grocery store!!
