El Conquistador, Cancun

 Phenomenal
Hands down my favorite restaurant we visited this trip. All of the dishes we had were delicious. We loved it so much we came twice during our trip. I enjoyed the Steak Diane, lobster tail, flambé banana, and lava cake. Staff is very professional and kind. The environment is wonderful too.

 Incredible experience
We have been going to Cancun for over 20 years and El Conquistador has always been a must. It still is! We started with a glass of wine that they recommended and it was very good. Then we had the Caesar salad, prepared table side, and it was impeccably prepared and delicious. For dinner, my husband had the beef tournedos and he said they just melted in his mouth. I had the lamb chop and it was equally as tender and cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared the cherries jubilee also prepared table side. The service is outstanding! The ambiance is beautiful - it's a quiet, romantic evening with a guitarist playing softly in the background. There is not one bad thing about this wonderful restaurant. Will go there again and again.

 Excellent as usual!
On our annual visit to Cancun, we dined at one of our favorite restaurants. The El Conquistador has been one of the best restaurants in Cancun for over 30 years. They offer tableside preparation of Caesar salad, Steak Diane and specialty coffees.Jorge Duran, an amazing Spanish guitarist, has been playing there for almost as long as the restaurant has been in existence. If you want a great meal with great music, don't miss the El Conquistador.

 Really Good
Are here with family on vacation while staying at the Royal Islander. We went on Prime Rib night and found service and food to be great. The night was popular so the restaurant was full and had a guitarist playing. The salads came out well presented and tasty. My husband and I ordered prime rib and others had steak and shrimp. Prime rib was cut and cooked as good as I've had. We ordered a Mexican wine which was also pleasantly good. Dessert was chocolate that was presented and tasted great. Overall had a wonderful experience and highly recommend.

 Fine dining at the Royal Islander Resort Cancun
Although we have been members of the Royal Sands for years, we had never eaten at El Conquistador, which is now located at the Royal Islander. The restaurant is beautiful and the food and service outstanding. We will now be sure to make it a regular dining spot on our future trips to Cancun.

 One of the best restaurants in the area!
This is my favorite & we try to eat here at least twice while we're in town. Reservations are a must & check the dress code-no swimwear or t-shirts. The food is great and the staff very attentive. the guitar player is really good-we bought 2 of his CD's. I love the coffee coated fish & the stiffed chicken! For desert-oh my-just try something new each time! Nice atmosphere.

 The best dinner in Cancun
We have done our dinner reservation a little late, it was 9 PM not knowing that this restaurant closes at 10 PM. We didn't have time for dessert after the dinner but we were very happy to have dinner exactly at this restaurant.Omg, i am speechless how good, fresh and tasty the food was. I tried grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and rice it was DELICIOUS . There are so many food choices in the menu and what is the most important very fresh .The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing with live music .Service was great .Definitely will go back when in Cancun:)

 Delicious and wonderful service
El Conquistador is on the Royal Islander property of the Royal Resorts in Cancun. Much to the delight of all patrons, this restaurant was rescued from another Royal property that was closing. The service and food are delicious. More upscale than a lot of Cancun restaurants.

 Prime Rib Night
We went here for prime rib night and were greatly pleased. The service is amazing, the food is excellent, and the sparkling wine I had was tasty. Would definitely go back.

 Amazing food!
We stayed at the Royal Sands resort and made our way to the Royal Islander for this restaurant. The food and service were great! The ambience is classy and elegant so it's best to dress up. Our reservation was at 6pm (right when they open) and it wasn't really busy at this time.

 Cancun's finest dining and music!
We always return to Cancun and dine Sun-Fri at El Conquistador at the Royal Islander Resort for the best fine dining experience in Cancun. Their table side Ceaser Salad, table side chateaubriand, table side flambe dessrts and drinks are only surpassed by their service. Manager, Manlio conducts his staff like a symphony. And guitarist, Jorge Duran is magnificent year after year. Our only issue is El Conquistador is closed on Saturday evenings. Our favorite and only needed Cancun dinner location. It will become yours too! Say hello to Manlio and Jorge for us!

 A hidden Gem
Located inside The Royal Islander, this specialty restaurant is fantastic! Here you can have a true gourmet dinning experience. Table side preparation of specialty menu items include Cesar Salad (traditional style), steak Diane, Conquistador shrimp, bananas flambé, and coffee. Or try the Chateaubrian Steak, fantastic. Every night Master guitar player Duran delights everyone with tastefully selected songs. Don't miss this one!

Not only was the food great, but the service was also. That night, there was a guitar player lending towards a romantic evening.

 Great Food and atmoshpere
One of the best rib eye steaks I've had. And my wife's Surf and Turf was excellent too. The help is great. Nice atmosphere for intimate dinner for two. It's located in Royal Islander resort. We had problem locating on maps and such but taxi driver knew right where to go. Our resort was about 10km away and we walked and bused it back.Guitar soloist was nice too.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The service was very attentive. The table side Caesars salad was very good and fun to watch them prepare. Our main entrees of filet and chateaubriand were perfectly cooked. The sides complimented the meat perfectly. Desserts of sorbet and chocolate cake was very good. The guitar music during dinner was very pleasant. Make sure to get a flaming coffee done table side. A show in itself and they are so good. Wonderful dinner, wonderful evening.

Went there Tuesday evening and had the Steak Diane which was very delicious and as tender and juicy as could be. Service was exemplary and the Cherries Jubilee were the best.

 Great Food Nice Atmosphere
Located at the Royal Islander Hotel, where we stayed, this is a casual upscale restaurant with great food and service. The staff makes you feel comfortable and relaxed while they prepare your meal table side. Just a fun place

 Great Service and Great Food
My wife had a Filet and I had the Filet and shrimp, they were both excellent. The portion sizes were perfect but unfortunately we didn't have room for desert. Reservations are required. We had to make them two days in advance. Very friendly staff.

Another great meal. Wilbert is an excellent server. The table side steak Diane, Caesar salad and flaming coffee are terrific.

 Great Place at the Royal Islander
We had to make reservations four days in advance. We have eaten here before and wanted to make sure we were able to eat here again. The service, food and decor was excellent. The food was fantastic and reasonable priced considering were you are. This is a fancy upscale restaurant. They make Caesar salad right at your table in front of you. The waiter will also make a fancy flaming coffee drink.

 Perfect presentation
We were a party of 7 so sampled a fair amount of the dishes offered. All the meals were presented beautifully, certainly can be called fine dining. The ChateauxBriand just melted in the mouth,the best I've had.

 Pleasant Surprise!
We've been coming to Cancun for many, many years now and have never had the pleasure to dine at the El Conquistador before. We've walked right by it but never knew how wonderful it is! Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised by the fine dining experience it offers. The food was exceptional, the service was superb and all at a reasonable cost too. We are staying in Cancun an additional week and have put this on our list of places to not miss while we are here!

 A fine dining experience among all of the resorts in Cancun.
Looking for a restaurant in Cancun that offers true fine dining? One that exhibits dishes that are tempting, exciting and presented in a truly unique way? Then the El Conquistador restaurant is a high end but intimate steakhouse in the Royal Islander Hotel may just be the place for you as you visit Cancun. It is located where their three restaurants converge right off of their pool area. Although we stayed at the Royal Caribbean Hotel next door, since they were sister hotels we were able to get reservations through our hotel concierge. I was worried be issues over the fact that there is a dress code and I didn't have the right clothes for a formal dinner, but after checking with the manager, he was nice enough to let us in anyway. Inside the place is very romantic as it is dimly lit with a hint of light from their fire lit walls. The food is rather seafood with a hint of a traditional steakhouse so American tourists would be well served to dine here at least one night.Our server's at El Conquistador was Angel and when we asked him which of the tempting dishes he recommended we try, he suggested the mussels and the mushrooms but we went with the Fruits de Mer Citrus Ceviche which came with a plethora of seafood choices including mahi-mahi, shrimp, mango and lime topped with provencal seasoning and a citrus-mint vinaigrette and the nicely plated Oyster Rockefeller to start off and both dishes were perfect way to begin our meal with a little seafood delight. There were a lot of strong choices for dinner, from duck confit enchiladas to filet mignon, after much thought I went with the Steak Diane Medallions which were sautéed with mushrooms and onions and served with Cabernet Sauvignon sauce. The fun part of the dish was that was prepared for you right at your table cooked to perfection from our server Angel. It was flavorful and well seasoned on top of being fun to watch. We has a great meal sitting at the round table catching up and enjoying our meal, which is what our vacation is supposed to be all about. For dessert we got the Flambéed Bananas which was a real show an treat as it was flambeed with a rind of an orange topped with liquor. El Conquistador was the best meal we had in Cancun hands down, not only was the food really high end but at an affordable price point but the ambiance was romantic and sexy and that's hard to pull off at an all-inclusive resort. El Conquistador is the restaurant that will be on my to return to list whenever I'm luck enough to visit Cancun again.

This restaurant located in the Royal Islander resort is a first class choice for a great eating experience. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly and attentive! Every meal we have had at the El Conquistador has been excellent!

 Thanksgiving Dinner
We enjoyed a great Thanksgiving dinner here, although we opted for steaks and lamb chops rather than the traditional US turkey-themed menu they offered. Our waiter Angel was very friendly and helpful as was all the staff. The mashed potatoes were awesome! The ambiance and decor are very modern and intimate, and we enjoyed the live guitar music as well. Highly recommend especially if you’re staying at one of the Royal Resorts.

 Excellent service, great food and very nice ambiance
This restaurant offers wonderful food and drink in an elegant casual setting. The service was excellent and there are a number of wonderful table-side prepared dishes that add an enjoyable experience to the delicious food. The setting is very nice, with lowered lighting and modern decor. The restaurant is smaller but this makes it feel more intimate, rather than crowded. There is a good variety on the menu for food and drink options.

 Tableside food prep and music! A rare treat!
This is our second time coming to this wonderful restaurant in 3 years. It is absolutely one of the best. The manager greeted us for 7 PM reservations, gave us a table of our choice, but the great acoustic guitar player (who is fantastic!). The service was outstanding by Willerth Castillo. Very professional, knoweldgable with questions and friendly. Just what we wanted. We had 4 diners in the party and we all ordered different items (shrimp, Filet Mignon, surf.turf, and Steak Diane). We also ordered incredible french onion soup, and table prepared Caesar salad. Steak Diane was also prepared Tableside. I would have included pics, but they are so many already on here that capture the atmosphere and uniqueness. You will love it. For dessert we had Spanish Coffees, Cherries Jubilee and Grilled Bananas, all which were prepared Tableside again. Out of this world. In the US, this meal would have been $300-400 at such a nice restaurant. Here it was $199, and that included several rounds of drinks and wine. You will love the ambiance, the music professional plays Foreigner, Journey, Eagles, Clapton, James Taylor, etc. Very good, and the diners loved it. It is a nicer restaurant and they do encourage nicer dress attire (no shorts, collard shirts, etc). I dont know how much they enforce it but people do dress up pretty nice. Enjoy - one of the best in Cancun.

 Great food and service
We were a group of 11 people and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had a seafood stuffed mushroom for an appetizer that was excellent. I think I will be dreaming of it for months to come! I had salmon and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband had a steak and he loved it. Another man in our group had the lobster and he stated it was the best ever! I had been craving a piece of key lime pie and I got a piece of key lime pie there, it too was excellent. In all I heard no complaints from our group of eleven people. Great service too,

 Spectacular
Wonderful setting - exceptional food. Several "prepared at table" offerings. Truly elegant, unrushed, fine dining. Food selections are not your run of the mill options.

 Still Simply Awesome!
Tom and I were lucky enough to have a longer holiday in Cancun this year. We went to El Conquistador almost every night that they were open. We truly feel that this restaurant is the best of the best.The food, from appetizers to desert is AMAZING. Have you ever looked at a dish presented on a page in Food and Wine magazine and wish that you could be served something that looked that good? You will find that everything that you are served looks like it has stepped out of the pages of this magazine.If you are looking for a romantic and elegant restaurant with subdued lighting and beautiful guitar music......this is the place for you. Jorge Duran is an exceptionally talented guitarist and also a wonderful person. A few years ago, I asked him if he could play "Fields of Gold" for me. Now, the very first time that Tom and I come, he plays that song. He also plays it every night that we are there. This is a very special memory that he has given me!!We've been lucky enough to be served by all of the friendly and very professional waiters. It's nice to catch up on how their children are doing since we saw them last. Angel has a new baby this year. We look forward so much to seeing, Wilberth, Jimi and Jose each time we go. Oran Cadena Saucedo helps the waiters. You will see this tall and smiling young man traveling around at top speed making sure that everything flows properly.We think about our wonderful evenings at El Conquistador all year long. It's only been a couple of weeks since we have been there and already we can't wait to go back!! So many thanks to all who work there!! We love you.

 Great Place for Dinner
We decided to try this place on our last night in Cancun, it was one of the better restaurants we had tried, (All up 6, time to get back in those running shoes). The atmosphere was great, the place was humming... The presentation of the food was beautiful. The food was delicious.We ended up having appetizers, soup and main course, and had room for dessert…the wine was nice, a big list to choose from.We started with the Cured Salmon and the French onion soup, all tasty. Then had the Pork Roulade and the home style steak (medium to well) with a side of glazed carrots, all done to perfection, Dessert was just as tasty, simple ice cream and cheesecake. This restaurant is part of the All Inclusive of the Royal Resorts, so it’s best to organise your reservations in advance.

 Amazing!!!
This restaurant is absolutely fantastic!! The food, service and atmosphere are truly outstanding. Our waiter Angel and live music by guitarist Jorge Duran made it one of the best experiences of our trip. We ended up going to this restaurant three times during our week stay because it was that good. If you are in Cancun you need to go to this restaurant and ask for Angel!

 Great food and service

I had salmon and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband had a steak and he loved it. Another man in our group had the lobster and he stated it was the best ever! I had been craving a piece of key lime pie and I got a piece of key lime pie there, it too was excellent. In all I heard no complaints from our group of eleven people. Great service too,

 Still Simply Awesome!
Tom and I were lucky enough to have a longer holiday in Cancun this year. We went to El Conquistador almost every night that they were open. We truly feel that this restaurant is the best of the best.The food, from appetizers to desert is AMAZING. Have you ever looked at a dish presented on a page in Food and Wine magazine and wish that you could be served something that looked that good? You will find that everything that you are served looks like it has stepped out of the pages of this magazine.If you are looking for a romantic and elegant restaurant with subdued lighting and beautiful guitar music......this is the place for you. Jorge Duran is an exceptionally talented guitarist and also a wonderful person. A few years ago, I asked him if he could play "Fields of Gold" for me. Now, the very first time that Tom and I come, he plays that song. He also plays it every night that we are there. This is a very special memory that he has given me!!We've been lucky enough to be served by all of the friendly and very professional waiters. It's nice to catch up on how their children are doing since we saw them last. Angel has a new baby this year. We look forward so much to seeing, Wilberth, Jimi and Jose each time we go. Oran Cadena Saucedo helps the waiters. You will see this tall and smiling young man traveling around at top speed making sure that everything flows properly.We think about our wonderful evenings at El Conquistador all year long. It's only been a couple of weeks since we have been there and already we can't wait to go back!! So many thanks to all who work there!! We love you.

 Great Place for Dinner
We decided to try this place on our last night in Cancun, it was one of the better restaurants we had tried, (All up 6, time to get back in those running shoes). The atmosphere was great, the place was humming... The presentation of the food was beautiful. The food was delicious.We ended up having appetizers, soup and main course, and had room for dessert…the wine was nice, a big list to choose from.We started with the Cured Salmon and the French onion soup, all tasty. Then had the Pork Roulade and the home style steak (medium to well) with a side of glazed carrots, all done to perfection, Dessert was just as tasty, simple ice cream and cheesecake. This restaurant is part of the All Inclusive of the Royal Resorts, so it’s best to organise your reservations in advance.

 Amazing!!!
This restaurant is absolutely fantastic!! The food, service and atmosphere are truly outstanding. Our waiter Angel and live music by guitarist Jorge Duran made it one of the best experiences of our trip. We ended up going to this restaurant three times during our week stay because it was that good. If you are in Cancun you need to go to this restaurant and ask for Angel!

 Another fantastic dinner
This is the third visit to this restaurant on this trip. Every time the service and food has been excellent. Wilberth and Jimi are very attentive and the art by which they make Mayan coffee is a show unto itself.

 Wonderful
There were four of us. We had appetizers, soup or salad, main course, and dessert. The service was on the spot. All the food served to us was delicious well appointed. The filet, lamb chops shrimp were yummy. Don't miss this one.

 Fantastic
One evening while staying at the Royal Islander hotel in Cancun we went to their upscale restaurant El Conquistador. Well, the restaurant is very charming inside, a lot of ambiance. They have a guitarist serenading you while dining. The food is excellent and the service was superb. I had a rack of lamb that blew me away, each chop just melted off the bone. My wife had their pork saltimbocca, which was stuffed with ham, sweet mashed potatoes and vegetables. She couldn’t stop raving about the dish. We mentioned that it was our friend’s anniversary to our waiter. So, after we finished dinner he brought out a dessert for everyone (8) called Chocolate Thunder, (um) at no extra charge.I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for great food, great service and a romantic evening.

Made reservations for family at this great restaurant! Food was delicious and the entertainment spot on.This restaurant is part of the All Inclusive of the Royal Resorts. Must have reservations. Ambiance is great nice and cozy. Staff was excellent,very courteous and friendly. Great Place.

This is an elegant place to dine. The service has improved a bit since our visits in the past, and we enjoyed our meal. Food is nice. We had the seafood stuffed chicken and the shrimp, which was tasty, but the mashed potato side tasted like instant potatoes.

Having heard that it was still a great dining experience we decided to make reservations (which is a must).The service, ambiance and food was impeccable. Jose was our waiter and very efficient, personable and knowledgeable. They are one of the few restaurants that still do table side prep for some dishes-Steak Diane, Caesar Salad, Mayan Coffee, etc. All of which our table had and it was delicious. If you are an owner of one of the Royals properties you receive a 10% discount, and if you have an all inclusive package with the Royals there is an upcharge on some of the menu items. This is fine dining at its best.

Several people ordered the prepared at the table choices and were not disappointed. Such as Steak Diane, Caesar Salad and desserts flambe. The Salmon dish was delicious. Nice wine choices by glass or bottle. Our waiter Angel was wonderful! Would go again.

An increased number of surcharges are now on the menu for those on the all-inclusive plan. Wine is still very good................food just wasn't as flavorful as it has been in past year visits.
