 Great private booths
I have been eating here for years, its my favorite japanese restaurant in Cancun. I've even gone in and sat at the sushi bar and asked for whatever was fresh and to surprise me and i wasn't disappointed! Also a great place to go with friends because they have these little great booths in the back great for a little privacy, business lunches or simply catching up!

 Surprise Sushi in Cancun!
My sons and I eat a lot of Japanese food at home and we're having sushi withdrawal in Cancun. I happened to check Tripadvisor and saw the great reviews for IRORI. We had a rented car and had been to downtown Cancun before and found it easy to deal with and close to the beach,. The restaurant is unassuming in decor and on a small side street but well-marked, and the food was out of this world. There are plenty of options if you don't like sushi- fired rice with shrimp beef or chicken, etc, but if you do like sushi, you'll love the fresh fish and extensive selection at this restaurant. Ask your server what is the freshest fish of the day- i have never ever had such fresh yellow tail in my life and we eat Japanese in NY and CT and just about everywhere int he world (haven't been to Japan yet). This is worth a taxi ride if you don't have a car- or take the bus. We went back 4 times in 10 days!! PS oen of the soy sauce choices had lime in it and I now add a small squeeze of fresh lime to my soy sauce wherever I go- a great discovery. Directions on their website are good!

 If you like Japanese food
In downtown Cancun, any taxi driver will take you there. Small but very well kept and attended by his owner, a friendly japanese cook. Look for the sushis and sashimis very fresh and from local fisheries. We find out they have a buffet service for lunch every tuesday... excellent price, wide variety and it's all-u-can-eat !!!

 The absolute BEST
There are many japanese restaurants in Cancun but this one is hand down the very best and the other offer no competition. The freshest seafood, and all is so carefully prepared. Run by japanese people this is the real deal. Service is outstanding and if you are in Cancun on holiday and have a craving for Japanese it is definitely worth the trip downtown

 Excellent service, economical buffet
Found this gem through tripadvsior. My boyfriend and I tried the Tuesday buffet set (300 pesos, tips not included), and highly recommend it. You get a decent selection of nigiri, rolls (u must try the caterpillar roll. It's fresh baked eel!! Sooo impressed!), tempura (sauce is actually warm!) fried rice, teppaniaz etc. And the fish is so fresh! fresher than most midrange Japanese restaurants in Chicago :)The service is absolutely wonderful. Our server is so attentive and always has a good smile. And despite it's an a la carte buffet, sushi comes within 3-5min. Definitely will go again if I have a chance. So glad we went :)

 Fantastic Sushi
I've been staying at the LaQuinta Hotel next door to Irori, and have eaten here many times. Incredible, fresh authentic sushi. Great service, cold beer, and fantastic Sushi chefs. The Dragon Roll, and the Spicy Salmon Rolls are two of my favorites. Great price for wonderful Sushi.

Amazing sushi tucked away in Cancun!
The sushi was fresh and delicious. We had great service too and the restaurant was not crowded. We were the only Americans there at the time which was a nice break from the touristy areas. Getting there was a bit tricky--it's tucked off the main road so keep a keen eye. Getting a cab home wasn't a problem though but the bus is also option.

Delicious Sushi !! So fresh !!
We didn't expect Sushi at such a high level. We traveled in Japan a few months ago, so our experience with Sushi, Sashimi and Miso soup is wide. Everything we ate in this restaurant was just perfect !! We don't believe but the freshness of the fish was much higher than from Japan! The Miso soup, the fine Sashimi was amazing! The sushi rolls were at the right size, perfectly made rice, fresh fish (we ate tuna and salmon) and seaweed.Thank you for the perfect dinner:)

 Amazing!
Just came back from dinner at Inori and it was so good I had to leave a review right away! Place is quite nice with separate, cosy booths and the service was very good. Having visited Japan I must say the food was excellent in quality and we did not have such nice Japanese anywhere else since our Tokyo getaway. Prices are really good too considering we had two appetisers (try the mussels yummm), a bottle of large sake, soft drinks and a main course each and payed under £40. Highly recommended.

Everyone was very happy & service was great
A fabulous menu was appreciated by all. I was the newbie of a group of 7, and I completely understand why they consider this their favourite Japanese restaurant in Cancun. I am also the only outsider, they are all locals. The service was very good, very obliging and always available. We really had everything but I'll focus on what I had, which was as vegan as they could provide. I started with a tofu appetizer and an order of garlic rice. My main was an order of veggie Tapanyaki with extra asparagus , all of which my GF devoured except for some of the broccoli, zucchini and all of the mushrooms. No one had room for any dessert, we were that stuffed. We had a long private table surrounded by a low wall which made it very pleasant for us.

BEST SUSHI I HAVE EVER HAD
If you are a sushi lover, PLEASE DO NOT MISS IRORI. I swear Im not friends with the owner but this pale is amazing. If you are a tourist I bet you do not imagine to have sushi in Mexico and I do understand but seriously this place is worth it. I think the chef is japanese, not sure. Let me tell you that Im a sushi lover and I´ve had sushi in almost every country i have visited and Irori would be in my top 3 Japanese restaurants, so... The food is fresh and prices are fair if you think about the quality (not cheap though). DO NOT MISS THE SQUID (to start), my favourite rolls are: DRAGON ROLL AND SPICY LOBSTER. Mmmmmmm, want to be there badly. Once you are there get a sake :)

 Great ingredients decent price
This is a traditional sushi place that tries to keep it so. Eventually sushi places in Mexico lose their way in the over exagerated conbinations, but this place keeps it just right. The ingedients are first quality and it shows in taste. And the price might be a little on the high side but it is worth it.

 Authentic Japanese Fare
This is THE go-to place for sushi and sashimi in Cancun. While sushi restauranta abound in Cancun, most of them serve Mexicanized versions of Japanese food featuring Philadelfia cream cheese in everything. Irori is true to traditional Japanese receipes. When Japanerse friends visit me, this is where I take them and the food and service are always excellent.

 Seafood, tempura, miso, the freshest!
We have eaten at Irori at least once every year for the last three years and each time have been impressed by the service and quality of the food.weWe have sampled nigri, sashimi, tempura, and other Japonese specialities and have loved them all. The sushi rolls are wonderful. On this visit my partner had a tempura shrimp avocado combination that was delcious. I had the miso and my partner the miso with tofu; both were wonderful rejuventing dishes! I also had the grilled salmon - a very generous serving, I must say, with vegetables, tasty firm and moist salmon. This is a restaraunt that consistently delivers Japonese meals of the highest quality. I highly recommend Irori.

 The best in town
This place is for people who desire the freshest , most authentic sushi in Mexico , in fact it easily keeps pace with some of the best sushi restaurants I've been to around the world. The only downside is the selection could be wider but honestly it doesn't need a bigger selection for the most part, I love halibut and you won't find it here but the salmon and tuna are by far the freshest and most delicious I have ever had the treat to enjoy. I like sitting at the sushi bar so I can chat with Daniel, he has not once sent me sushi that I had to send back. The owner is Japanese and I believe his wife spent time living in Japan so as far as authenticity, you will have it. Such a great place to enjoy an amazing dining experience. Thank you Daniel for your fast and delicious service, it is one of the reasons I keep going back.

I have eaten at this incredible restaurant for over 10 years , gotta give my respects to the sushi chefs more than anybody else , not that others are not good , they are quite good , but Daniel and the other chefs are just wizards behind the bar. The fish is always without fail the freshest you could ever ask for , in over ten years I have not had to send a single plate back. In my travels I have made it a point to look up all the best sushi places and folks , I've eaten at only one other place that can present a challenge to this sushi restaurant. Recently went with a friend to Cancun. As a state resident, I avoid Cancun. But, if I must go for any reason, I make the sting much less by having a meal at me favorite restaurant for my favorite food, Sushi. The Sushi Chef's are very well mannered and extremely knowledgeable on the art of preparing Sushi. I am not let down, once again, of the quality and price of this place. No wonder it has been around so long and not become another fly by night operation. Keep up the good work!

 Great Sushi!
Our friend had recently raved about a meal at Irori & after that all we could think about was sushi. We were coming to Cancun for an overnight & found a great hotel across the street from Irori, Ambiance Suites. We walked over for dinner around 8pm & we were greeted very nicely. We sat in a private booth & ordered drinks. The service was great. The menu is big with lots of great options, sashimi, sushi, shabu shabu, & much more. We were just interested in sharing a few rolls since we had had a late lunch. We tried the dynamite roll, soft shell crab roll & spicy tuna roll. They started us off with a complimentary cucumber salad, tasty & refreshing. Our rolls were all beautifully presented, fresh & delicious. The soy with lime was quite tasty too.Irori satisfied our sushi craving & we will be back for more!

 Best Japanese restaurant in Cancun
Located in downtown area and it is a bit hidden. Very complete menu, quality food, good service. Monday to Friday they offer Bento box meal which I recommend

 Authentic
I have been eating at Irori for a number of years and have never been disappointed. The sushi chefs are awesome, creative and interactive. This is not the typical 'let's put cream cheese in everything' Mexican sushi restaurant. I don't eat at any other sushi restaurant. This may sound odd but try tempura parsley. Delicious!! They serve it with warm Ponzu sauce. Yummy! They open at 1:00. No liquor license on Sunday, so no Sake!

fresh and a wide array to choose from
I am new to the world of sushi, but my husband is not. The menu is extensive and there is definitely something for everyone. We ordered a wide array of sushi, all which was brought together in one large serving platter, perfect to share. Everything was very fresh and delicious. We tried one meat roll which we liked the least, the fish and seafood won hands down over the meat. Not cheap, the imported beer is $10, although you can have local for local prices. Wine was expensive too by the glass. Would go here again and try so much more that we didn't get to.

Good food. A bit more expensive than what it says here.
A big menu and selection of Japanese foods. From classic cliche sushi to more traditional dishes.A lot of Asian people enjoy it and locals love it.I do think it is a bit more expensive than what the range in TripAdvisor says. Try the shellfish baked with mayonnaise.

 Japanese in centro
Another good find in Centro. I was craving Japanese and again, with the good reviews, I went downtown on the r1 bus. It's about 3 blocks from where the bus lets you off. The food was very good here but the only complaint I have is I ordered the tempura shrimp. Most restaurants here in L.A., when you order a dinner, the miso soup and rice comes with the meal. Not here. Everything is ala-carte. To their credit, once I tasted the food, it became a non - issue. So I ordered the miso soup, the tempura shrimp and vegetables, rice, and an order of hamachi. The soup was good and they don't skimp on the tempura. There were 5 shrimps and alot of vegetables to my liking. The hamachi wasn't great but was good. This meal came out to about $32.00 usd.

 Not impressed, at all.
The food looks better than it tastes. Good presentation, but not the flavor you would expect at a Japanese joint.

Today we had dinner at Irori. It was nice but not the best japanese you can find. There are no Tepanyaki chefs, an unfortunate situation. The server had a bad cold. Hope we don't catch one.

 Over-priced Japanese Restaurant
Next to my overnight hotel. Convenient. Tried a miso-based ramen. It was edible but not nearly as good as the ramen at Tokio 07 in Merida. 50% more expensive (not unexpected in Cancun) & 50% lower quality. Attentive, pleasant staff but I regretted not trying one of the outdoor taco joints nearby.

It Used To Be Great! Now, Sad.
Lost it's flavor, service and abilities to be one of the better Sushi places. I have been going here for the last 14 years and it shocked me that it went down hill so quick. Did not recognize any of the staff. Management was absent. Food mediocre and price value lost completely. Too many other good Sushi places in Cancun to go back here. Besides, they value my business and go out of their way to keep it. Goodbye Irori.

 Worst Japanese Restaurant in Cancun
There are 4 Japanese restaurants in Cancun area. This is the worst. We ordered Tempura Soba, Teppanyaki, Cold Shabu shabu salad, and California Roll. They can't distinguish between Tempura soup and Soba soup ! We asked Soba soup so many times and finally got it. Tempura & Teppanyaki were terrible, Sushi was not bad. No Japanese chef, No Japanese waiter. This is the worst Japanese restaurant in Cancun.
