La Destileria, Cancun

 Puff pastry chicken
We visited this restaurant twice during our stay because we couldn't get enough. Excellent food!!! You may eat inside or outside. Reservations recommended if you really want an outside table. Sunday night was not as crowded.

 La Destileria
Our family had dinner here during our recent vacation in Cancun. The ambiance is warm and they have band that will play at your table. This was really a lot of fun. We had the tequila flights and this was interesting and we had a lot of fun sharing a couple of these around the table. Fresh guacamole made table side to order was fantastic! We had a wide variety of dishes here and most notable were the fajitas and seafood dishes. The service was excellent. A great evening and we will definitely return here.

 Excellent Dinner
We had a great dinner here. I highly recommend the Cilantro Fish Fillet. It was excellent! The chicken molcajetes were also very good. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the lagoon.

Had a great dinner here with the family in July 2017. Excellent margaritas, amazing Rib Eye Molcajete. The mariachis were a lot of fun too and the service was very attentive. We will be back!

 The place for Tequila
Had a great experience at La Destileria with my wife. Staff was very accommodation and made sure everything was to our liking. Great selection of Tequila and will make your drinks the way you want them. Food was good and would go back again and recommend to others. It's on the lagoon and has a nice patio along the lagoon to sit and enjoy the evening.

 Best Restaurant in Cancún!
This place is perfect! Food is amazing, we had almost every app in the menu and all of them impressed. The Molcajete is their signature dish and if you go please try it. It comes in several combinations, my favorite was the Arrachera (Skirt Steak) one. Their drinks are all well crafted and the place has a view of the bay perfect for catching beautiful sunsets (for the romantics out there). As in every place we visit, the staff and service makes all the difference, at La Destileria the waiters (and staff in general) are top notch, that rare combination of friendly and professional people that make you feel at ease. We liked this restaurant so much that went two nights in a row, both times were amazing. As a side note, they have mariachi every night which is a great plus. Thanks to La Destileria for an unforgettable experience.

 Daughters Birthday
This is a must visit while in Cancun. Our servers Gummer and Fernando really gave us superior service last night 7-9-17. These two really made the birthday experience. The two guy band serenaded my daughter with wonderful music. The only downer to the night was the photographer we purchased 2 pictures in the frame $50 3 small bottles of tequila with the photo on it with a small sombrero on top of the bottle $60. All we requested was to have 1 more small sombrero and he would not budge. Other than that this was an great experience. Highly recommended!!! Thank you again to Gummer and Fernando for your awesome level of service.

 Excellent Dinner
Had a great dinner here with the family in July 2017. Excellent margaritas, amazing Rib Eye Molcajete. The mariachis were a lot of fun too and the service was very attentive. We will be back!

We had a group of 4 and sat outside. The view was beautiful! The servers were very attentive without being intrusive. The menu was very extensive and had everything from tacos to fancier Mexican dishes. We all had the special which was a combination platter with grilled vegetables, lobster, filet and shrimp. All of the ingredients were very fresh and very good. We all enjoyed our food. There was a musical group which wandered thru the restaurant playing very fun music that added to the atmosphere. We will go back next time we are in town.

We were here in 2016 and returned this year with our family and met friends from the USA it's the best Mexican in cancun

 A little touristy
But we are tourists after all. We loved this spot, the service was attentive and friendly and the food was enjoyed by everyone in our party. Especially those of us that took the recommendation of our hotel's doorman and ordered the molcajete that was the real show stopper of everything we tried.

EVERYTHING is fabulous at this restaurant. Tacos are one of my favorites. Theirs something for everyone. You will love it. The Margaritas are divine. GO, do not hesitate. I've been gong for years. Its up the road from the Royal Sands, a 5 minute walk.

 Great Mexican restaurant for lunch
This is a great Mexican restaurant located across from the Kukulcan mall. It is one of my favorite Cancun restaurants and I always make a point to eat lunch here where you can get great food, service and eat on the deck overlooking the lagoon.

 Nice people and great food!
My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at La Destileria! The decor was very interesting and they made it look like an old tequila distillery. The outside dining area became very noisy when a man in his fishing boat on the dock below us, blasted his rap music so the waitstaff kindly moved us inside. They had mariachi band that night who came around to the tables and they were very good. The food was authentic Mexican and muy bueno! I asked the manager (?) David, who came around to greet us, questions about the decor and he taught us a lot about tequila that we did not know. When I told him that I did not like tequila, he brought us a bottle of very expensive tequila to taste. It did not taste like tequila at all but rather like a nice cognac so I liked it! Thanks David! The staff was excellent and took very good care of us so thank you!

Of course we had to have an order of guacamole. The margaritas were good and we were even entertained briefly by the mariachi band. Prices were very reasonable and the service was outstanding. we can't wait to go back

While on our trip, we ate at many different restaurants but this was by far the best one we've had. First off, the staff was so friendly and funny! Then the atmosphere is awesome. We sat outside and it overlooked the beautiful lagoon. Our margaritas were good, our meals were authentic and delicious, and desert was fantastic! I highly suggest this place.

Me and my wife were looking for a place to have lunch and couldn't have been any luckier by picking this restaurant. It has a great view of the lake, the decor and atmosphere are also nice. I had the best margarita I've had in my life, believe me, you won't be disappointed. The food was phenomenal and the service was top notch. Enjoy!!

Seriously the most yummy dinners we had while staying in Cancun. Very close walk from La Isla Shopping Mall. The margaritas and the Molcajetes Camarones were so good! The most amazing Mariachi band started at 7:30pm for only about 1-1.5 hours. Staff was attentive, friendly and spoke good English!! Fun environment even when semi-empty and authentic decor.

As many people who reviewed this restaurant did, we came here twice during our stay. The first time was just as we had remembered it. Margaritas were great, food was delicious and service was outstanding. The ambiance was very relaxing and beautiful as we sat outside on the veranda. The waiters were attentive but not overbearing. And as some people also mentioned, there were mariachis and another duo of a harp and guitar player. We ordered the guacamole which is prepared table side and it was great! Needed a little salt but that's OK. For dinner, I had the fish filet in cilantro sauce and it was perfect! My husband had the arrachera steak molcajete and he was also impressed. We opted for a second margarita instead of dessert. On to the second night. What a difference! First of all, we could barely get the waiter's attention all evening. The mariachis came over to see what we wanted them to play and they did for a tip of course. Then the harp and guitar player came over to play wanting a tip again. Towards the end of the meal, the mariachis came AGAIN and we politely told them no, we didn't want any special song. We ordered the guacamole again and it was awesome. But for dinner, I wanted the bullshot steak because I had had it before and the table side presentation and the aromas as it was cooking were half the joy of the meal. The waiter told me they don't prepare it table side any more but promised that the chefs in the kitchen prepare it the same way. It didn't taste like it and I was greatly disappointed. My husband had the marinated steak tacos and he said they were flavorful but nothing special. We waited and waited to get our waiter's attention to tell him we wanted the check. Then we waited almost a half hour for it! One of the assistants asked if we wanted another margarita because he could see that we were just sitting there, done with our meal and drinks. It had been nearly an hour after we were done eating before we got the check. We almost walked out. I left a small tip and wrote a note explaining that it was small because of the very poor service. We go to Cancun every year - we might give them a second chance because we've always liked it, but definitely not going there twice!

We are a family of 5, 2 parents and 3 teen boys. Dined July 2017. All enjoyed their meals. Fresh guacamole prepared table side was a big hit. Tasty, fresh meals. Friendly, energetic, attentive wait staff. Recommended for sure.

Loved this place! The staff was incredibly friendly, the food was great, and we even had the pleasure of being serenaded by the mariachi band. All in all, this was a fantastic experience!

 Do you want your margarita vacation size or business size?
Go with the "vacation size" margarita! Good strong margaritas and the food was decent (not spectacular) and a bit pricey but the service and ambiance was high class with great views of the bay. Waiter was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Was thinking they would offer a tequila tasting on the menu given the name of the restaurant, but didn't see it so just stuck with a margarita. It was a nice quick 10 minute walk from the Westin Lagunamar. I would hit this up again next time (although my favorite is still Puerto Madero which is even pricier than this place but worth it)

We had dinner and margaritas at la destileria and the whole experience was wonderful. We got the top shelf margaritas and they were the best we had in Cancun. One each was plenty! We got the fried cheese appetizer with tortillas which was delicious. A cheese lovers dream! I got the Chile relleno and my husband got a shrimp dish. Both were good. We're from Texas and get awesome Tex Mex so we thought this food was good but not the best ever. The atmosphere and service and margaritas made this place. Service was attentive and spot on. Sunset over the bay was beautiful. The had Mariachis playing music later in the evening which was the cherry on top. Not the best food ever but good none the less. Don't skip the margaritas or fried cheese. I will definitely be back next time in Cancun.

Molcajete de Arrachera was the best. Nice views from terrace. Mole Poblano is a bit bitter than usual. Good attention and drinks !

 Authentic Mexican food in a rustic setting
The food was really good and in a nice and friendly atmosphere but I felt we were ignored a little because we didn't order drinks. When the food eventually came, it was worth the wait. I'll definitely go back next time I am in Cancun. I liked the live performers as they added a little Mexican flair to the evening dining.The restaurant is located on the lagoon, so get some insecticide spray if you plan on sitting outside

 A very nice surprise
It's almost unbelievable and definitely unforgettable that it took us 8 years before having dinner at this place, also in consideration of the fact that we can walk to it!!!However, at La Destileria we found a very nice Traditional Mexican Restaurants and we went twice in a week to make up for the past.Service is excellent, dishes are really tasty and you can sit out on the deck looking at the laguna, which is a plus; Mariachis are at home here, therefore you'll have either to survive or enjoy them, your call.Best dish so far the Tequila Flambé Shrimps (prepared right at the table) and the Molcaquete with Arrachera, Margarita is a must!

 Very Good Authentic Mexican Dish
Second time in Cancun. WE remembered this place from the first visit from two years ago and came back here for our second time. The mojito and margarita is as as good as the first time. The food, I got the Jamaican fish and different than what I thought. It was also good. The chips and the salsa are great as well. Price is good and reasonable; service was also wonderful. The only destruction was the guy that takes photos while you wear a big sombrero. $15 dollars for the photo! So just politely say NO. The mexican musicians that play the banjo are also a nice present. Place is 10 mins walking distance from La Isla Shopping mall.

Beautiful restaurant that was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. View was very nice, service was great (although don’t be in a rush!), and the food was excellent. Within walking distance to many hotels.

 Great Food and nice atmosphere
We got the Mole and the Chiles with a huge glass of Margarita. It was great! Good food and a nice atmosphere on the terrace. I just don't like when they charge 15% for tip rightaway. The tip is optional and I like to add what I want.

I'll definitely go back next time I am in Cancun. I liked the live performers as they added a little Mexican flair to the evening dining.The restaurant is located on the lagoon, so get some insecticide spray if you plan on sitting outside

 A very nice surprise
It's almost unbelievable and definitely unforgettable that it took us 8 years before having dinner at this place, also in consideration of the fact that we can walk to it!!!However, at La Destileria we found a very nice Traditional Mexican Restaurants and we went twice in a week to make up for the past.Service is excellent, dishes are really tasty and you can sit out on the deck looking at the laguna, which is a plus; Mariachis are at home here, therefore you'll have either to survive or enjoy them, your call.Best dish so far the Tequila Flambé Shrimps (prepared right at the table) and the Molcaquete with Arrachera, Margarita is a must!

 Very Good Authentic Mexican Dish
Second time in Cancun. WE remembered this place from the first visit from two years ago and came back here for our second time. The mojito and margarita is as as good as the first time. The food, I got the Jamaican fish and different than what I thought. It was also good. The chips and the salsa are great as well. Price is good and reasonable; service was also wonderful. The only destruction was the guy that takes photos while you wear a big sombrero. $15 dollars for the photo! So just politely say NO. The mexican musicians that play the banjo are also a nice present. Place is 10 mins walking distance from La Isla Shopping mall.

 Great authentic food
Beautiful restaurant that was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. View was very nice, service was great (although don’t be in a rush!), and the food was excellent. Within walking distance to many hotels.

 Great Food and nice atmosphere
We got the Mole and the Chiles with a huge glass of Margarita. It was great! Good food and a nice atmosphere on the terrace. I just don't like when they charge 15% for tip rightaway. The tip is optional and I like to add what I want.

We popped in after a trip around La Isla for something different and the food was not a disappointment. We both opted for Molcajetes (one shrimp one beef) and it was incredible. No need for a starter if you've eaten in the last 24 hours. The only complaint was that my partner, who isn't overly fond of spicy food, felt a bit of a sore stomach afterwards but I was fine as I'm much more accustomed to it. The decor was decent but could do without the sports on TV and more focus on atmosphere. Other than that and the usual assumed tip it was good.

My wife and I had dinner there on 10/4/17 and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the mojitos were great. Sitting in the back area overlooking the boats and nice sunset while enjoying a great dinner was an occasion to remember. May be a bit pricey but well worth it.

Being August, it was rather warm but we chose to stay sitting there instead of asking to be seated inside. We started off with the table-side guacamole. Being from Texas, we've had some excellent guacamole and this could definitely compete (with a tad more salt!). We tried a couple of the Molcajetes and shared them among the three of us. Not impressed. The meat was tender but lacking in flavor. Next time, we'll try something else. Service was top-notch with attentive waitstaff without being pushy. May give it another chance on our next trip.

My family went here for dinner based on the Trip Advisor reviews. We had drinks, which were good and the staff was attentive, but the food was definitely chain restaurant food. We had a steak, which was just ok. Fish with cilantro sauce which was rather bland which was surprising. We also had chipotle chicken, which my daughter really liked. We sat outside on the lagoon deck and had a nice view. Overall I would choose a non-chain local restaurant over this place, unless you really are going for the tequila.

We were recommended to this place by our private driver and others so we tried it. Unfortunately we were not impressed. The food was okay at best. Some items were over cooked. The only highlight was the tequila sampler and what you learned and the staff.

Service was excellent and we enjoyed sitting on the deck at sunset however I just can't rave about the food. It is located a short but somewhat dangerous walk with the cars from one of the bus stops. It also provides live entertainment in the form of "musicians" coming to your table and belting out their best Mexican songs or your requests. Unfortunately, they can't carry a tune, they sing and play (guitar and harp) their loudest as they are standing right next to your table, and when the song is done, they don't leave until they get some Pesos. Although some may enjoy the experience, for me it took away from a wonderful meal as we watched the sun set over the bay. We went there our first trip and had a similar experience. We won't be back on our next trip.
