Houston, we have a problem
The problem is I will never be able to drink any margarita other than the one Jesus prepares with such artistry. After the margarita served as aperitiv, the food was so tasty and savory that suspicion came he dropped something into the drink. But then again, no, it actually was like that. And, as mentioned, the service was absolutely top notch, kind and attentive but not intrusive. All in all a dinner worth repeating, I would recommend trying at least one when in Cancun. And, if possible, try to have Jesus as your waiter. You won't regret.

Really nice food!
We got to cancun and looked on tripadvisor a place to eat good food. Here they have really nice mexican food, good service, good prices. We had really good mexican plate, fish and tacos. It was delicious!!!! Really recommend this restaurant!!!

Amazing Food
Located less than 1000 ft. away from Hotel Kin Mayab, where I was staying, my boyfriend and I decided to walk here on our last night out after seeing the great reviews. This is located in Downtown Cancun, on a street right off of Av. Tulum and not even a block away from Parque de las Palapas. It is a pretty small restaurant with only a couple of seats inside and a few more outside.The owner spoke pretty good English and was so nice. He gave us great recommendations and answered all of our questions about the menu. The food was just as amazing. My boyfriend had a burrito and I had fish stuffed with seafood and sangria (forgot the actual name). The food was so filling, portions were huge, and the prices were more than amazing. If you don't have a high spice tolerance, be wary of the green salsa given with the tortilla chips before your meal! It'll be spicy! If you can't handle it, the red salsa is not spicy at all.Come and enjoy the great food and company. And if you're looking for dessert, go to the Parque de las Palapas nearby for some amazing churros!

So nice we went twice!
Boy are we glad we did a bit of research on where to eat in Cancun Centro. Pik Nik is right across the street from the R1 bus stop just a stones throw from Ado Bus Station. We had read a review saying it was the best restaurant in Cancun and you know how that goes. You try it out then it turns out to be so so at best. This was not the case with Pik Nik! We tried the garlic fish and tacos. Wow! What a meal!!!! We were super impressed and the prices were fair, around MX$170 for the fish and MX$90for the tacos. Portions were large enough that that we left full. Did we mention the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa? Top notch! Thinking maybe it was a fluke... we wemt back a week later and got the meat platter and that famous Pik Nik shrimp everybody talks about... The food was near perfect. Honestly, this alone showed us that Pik Nik is indeed the best in Cancun. We would have gone back more times but we love trying new things so had to keep that momentum. All in all, would not hesitate to go back. The atmosphere at night is quite something since Pik Nik is right by the vibrant Parque Las Palapas and opposite is Beach Please bar. We will be back, without fail!

Nice place
The restaurant is really nice and the food is suprisingly delicious. They have great mexican dishes. The street where th restaurant is is not too attractive but the food will distract you from it. Going for lunch here is great. Pretty quiet and nice.

Would recommend in Playa Del Carmen!
My mom and I eat lunch here one afternoon on our last day in Playa Del Carmen. If you are looking for clean place to eat with a nice atmosphere this is it. Because it's outside the 5th avenue hustle the prices are much better. We eat the burritos here. Customer service was pleasant.

Real Mexican Food

Great food and friendly service
Big portions and very tasty food. We first took the mixed plate with quesadillas, enchiladas and tacos to share. Although we were already quite full, we decided to order another dish (fish and shrimp tacos) because we were curious to taste more of the delicious food and had just found out they woud be closed the next day. Our waiter, Jesus, was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely come here again if we have the chance.

By far one of the best in the area!
Giovanni and the rest of the staff at Piknik literally can't do enough to help you, they are very attentive and friendly!The food is super delicious and the portions are great! Try the Chile relleno or the tacos! Fantastic food!
A few of us took the bus about 15min out of the hotel zone. We went to the marcado first then stopped at Pik Nik for some authentic Mexican food. I know a thing or two about Mexican cuisine and this was so good! The service was excellent (as it usually is in Mexico) and overall a very nice time.

Friendly, delicious, romantic, reasonable, warm -- can't wait to return
My wife and I ate here twice in a short trip to Cancun, based on some online reviews. Our first visit, in the afternoon, we wandered here from Mercado 28 (where our bus stopped -- but we didn't) and had the mixed-seafood soup and a plate of grilled shrimp. Both were delicious. My only complaint was that the bit of salad that came alongside has a mayonnaisy dressing, but my wife was willing to eat that. On a Friday afternoon, the street was quiet, sleepy, and cute. It was much busier and louder when we came back on Sunday evening, but the food was just as fantastic -- fresh and delicious -- and the service was great. We shared an order of shrimp fajitas and fried fish; my wife was worried that the fish would be oily, but it was instead perfectly moist, flaky, and tasty. We look forward to our next chance to visit, and to meet again with the kind and accomodating (Waiter? Maitre'd? Manager? I think all these and more) Jesus. Bonus: the ice cream shop around the corner! (La Real MIchoacana), to which Jesus directed us. (We came from the Hotel Zone of Cancun, and used the R1 bus, which stops nicely nearby.)

Take the bus downtown and find this place
We went here for dinner one night and the atmosphere of this little hole in the wall was awesome! It's on a little side street (alley). Take the R-1 bus downtown to the big supermarket and it is just a few blocks down from there. I think the night atmosphere was cool because everything was all lit up. There is a bar across the alley with music playing and vendors are lined along the street. There are many locals dining in the little area here and the food is excellent and cheap. We got tacos, fajitas, chips and salsa, guacamole and a few cokes for under $20 usd. My steak tacos came with onions and I didn't realize that. When I told them, they took them back and brought me new ones! Service was great!! If you have time after dinner (or lunch) take a stroll to the open air market. There are lots of local vendors.

Best spot in cancun
This is a little restaurant tucked away on a side street that serves REAL Mexican food. It is great for people watching. The food and drinks are excellent and it is not very expensive. The service is outstanding . There are two brothers that work there name Giovanni and Luis jr and they are the nicest hardest workers. My friend and I went there twice and they remembered us. After dinner walk down the little street and it opens into a local street fair with music , rides for children and many street vendors. I highly recommend this place.

So yum! Guava drink is the best!
3 days in on my 2nd trip to the area and so far, my favorite spot in Playa del Carmen! The owner is really wonderful and also sells handmade blow glass and stoneware from Guadalajara. We had the delicious mixed plate with 3 different options and the most delicious guava drink. Coming back tomorrow!

Guac-a-mole dreams come true
Staying in downtown Cancun, just got back from a long day in Tulum (mainly sat in a coach picking bozos up from hotels in the middle of nowhere, but that's another review for another day) so I thought I'd have a wander around the area and get a quick dinnerStumbled across Pik-nik hidden away down a back street near the ADO depot, a friendly (but not pushy) senor welcomed me in so I gave it a whirl,and I was very glad I did. I had the guacamole to start, and as a guac aficionado I can say it is the tastiest guac I've had. For main I had the steak burrito, which was delicious and such a healthy portion I struggled to finish it (thanks in part to me recovering from montezuma's revenge a few days prior), all washed down with a corona or 3. All for the very reasonable sum of 240ish pesos (roughly £10) The downtown area is a real diamond in the rough if you want a taste of the vibrant flavour of Mexico and at a fraction of the prices on the strip, and this gem might just be the Pik of the bunch

Cheap, gold Mexican food!
Tiny and delicious restaurant tucked away in downtown Cancun. The outdoor seating area is tiny (there isn't really a place to dine inside). Free chips and salsa (green is hot and amazing!). We ordered steak and chorizo tacos--steak was flavorful and tender. Chorizo a bit salty. The service was great and many families were dining there. Accessible by the R1 bus. Would recommend for a cheap eat!

Easy walk from Chedraui, the Mexican version of Walmart but better, and the pleasant waiters beckoned us in for lunch. Located in an alley that has a number of restaurants. No official Happy Hour but we got a deal with our drinks and ordered a shrimp burrito and fish and shrimp tacos. Tortilla chips and salsa brought out immediately.Food was fresh and delicious and economical compared to some of the establishments in the hotel zone. Portions were generous....Because of this great experience, we returned for dinner the next day and the reliability of the food, drinks and service was again noted. Shrimp dinner with cilantro and garlic and a combo Mexican plate. The seafood dishes were superior.A lovely find leading to a festive square walking further along on a Friday evening to find local families enjoying churros and other desserts! This was why we love Mexico!

Worth a Visit
The restaurant is small inside just a couple of tables. The outside had several. The service was very good as was the food. Drinks were acceptable. We stopped here for snacks and margaritas and weren't disappointed. One of the staff members is a younger boy named, Luis. He was very sweet and basically adorable. The margaritas were soooo good.

Worth a Visit
The restaurant is small inside just a couple of tables. The outside had several. The service was very good as was the food. Drinks were acceptable. The chili rellenos were so stuffed with cheese, came with three small side salads, and beans. All was delish. We would go back again. I hear the fish is outstanding. Next time!

Good food, decent prices, touristy
Had grilled fish (garlic style, excellent). Mexican plate was just okay, and they were out of guacamole but didn't offer discount. Drinks good and reasonably priced. Mostly tourists here.

Enjoyable food drinks and service
Very good quality food and the cocktails were excellent and service was very good. We found it impossible to talk due to the loud bar music accross the road. Fine to drink eat and move and not good if you want to be able to talk over the table.

Late Night Grub! Downtown Cancun!
We wanted some authentic Mexican food and this hit the spot! This place was a little difficult to find as it is pretty much a hole in the wall. It's on one of the little side streets near the Parque Las Palapas where the locals eat at. It's fairly cheap and open late. The "Seafood Soup" is a must have on the menu along with the garlic shrimp plate. Drink your cervezas fast because they get warm quick!

Food good
We had a hard time finding it. Very surprised how good the food was for the price! Recommend take it to go. There is an outdoor seating area 1/2 Block down that is easier on the eyes & ears!

Pay for what you get
After looking at all the reviews this place looked incredible and thought it was worth a trip to check it out. Especially with at the time it's ranked 32 out of all restaurants in cancun and we was looking for cheap eats.For sure it's a cheap eat, for all of our food it come to M$250, with a drink each. With it being cheap it did not taste fresh, the chicken tasted reheated and not much flavour in most things, the saviour was the sauces the guacamole was great. I would suggest paying more and going somewhere else, yesterday we went to blue geko, considerably it was twice the cost but it was more than twice as good. The service charge is not included in this as the waiter kept persisting as we paid, although we told him we only had notes (200 peso notes that was almost the price of the food) he kept insisting. We have no issue with tipping it's just when it is being demanded in this way, it would be better if it was already included on the bill if they feel like this.

Wasnt good
The food was very salty and not tasty. Chicken was half cooked. Didn't enjoyed my tacos meal. They served nachos OTH with salsa that has no taste.

This turned out to be a hint of what was yet to come. The guacamole plate was watery and tasteless. Our taco plates, both pork and beef, consisted lukewarm, off-tasting meat on cold tortillas, cold beans, and tasteless rice. I only ate one and wish I hadn't. I ended up having stomach issues for the rest of our week. Very sad, because it used to be kind of good . . . I cannot fathom how people have rated this so highly.
