 Chef has a Michelin star!
We were so impressed that we had to ask why they didn't have a Michelin star. We were told that the chef had acquired one at a different restaurant. Everything was amazing: the food, the service, and the live piano was also great.

Upscale restaurant which has a strict dress code. We enjoyed celebrating a quite birthday. The servers are literally at your service entertaining you with pieces of cuisine art the chef prepares for you. And all of that is accompanied by an excellent pianist's repertoire. The guy is so professional that in between classical music and romantic melodies of the nineties, he managed to play "Desposito". Kudos to the crew of Le Basilic for making it a relaxing evening for us. Try the beef for main course. Melts in your mouth. Chase everything with creme broulee.

I feel this restaurant is a well kept secret! It is a beautiful restaurant in the hotel district. The service was impeccable and the prices were great for all the little extras you received. I have many dietary challenges and they were able to accommodate deliciously. We will definitely return next time in Cancun.

 Superb restaurant experience!
This restaurant claims to be the only top ranked in Cancun and it deserves to be. The tables are far enough apart to where there is no problem talking, and the restaurant has a lovely interior. The menu is limited, but very good, and everything is of excellent quality. The wine list is superb as well.

Words can't describe how awesome of a restaurant this place is
Must dine here at least once when you stay at this property or when in Cancun. Give your self time to relax before a world class dining experience with this fine French cuisine by enjoying the jazz trio playing in the lobby/lobby bar beforehand.

 Wow Wow Wow
Have been to fine dining restaurants all over the World - they don't come any better than this absolute gem. Every course had its own wow factor, but the creativity was not overdone at the expense of the amazing flavours. The canapes and 'between' courses including palate cleansers, were stunning. A bit like not spoiling a good movie by telling friends the plot, I don't want to spoil other travellers sheer delight they will encounter at this incredible gastronomic experience by detailing each course - suggest though you make sure you have a camera with video capability. The decor is traditional French and artwork interesting. As might be expected, the standard of table service matches the great work of the outstanding chefs. If you want a special night out in Cancun - this is it - and by Western standards not expensive

 Divine Dining
Everything about this place is above standard. The food is inventive, calculated and executed in a manner that deserves praise. The wait staff mirrored the flow of the meal leaving no stone unturned yet non intrusive, polite and educated in regard to the menu. What more could you ask, Le Basilic even had a small stand for my purse, served table side! We order the Chef's recommended menu of ravoli stuffed with foie gras, black truffle and mushroom (found only in central Mexico),and pepper crusted filet mignon. We were also served a trio of asparagus soup, octopus and parmasean puff along with an amouse bouche of shrimp and a palette cleanser of basil popsicle. The desserts were heavenly. I had the hazelnut fondant and my husband had the creme brûlée. What a night. We were also presented with a parting gift of chocolate as we were celebrating a birthday. It was a lovely evening and an even lovier meal. I am a foodie and very good "cooker" as my son would say so my standards are pretty high. Go and enjoy a meal.I don't think it was overpriced at all. It was about $75 per person but we did not have alcohol with our meal.Thank you Le Basilic and Chef Enrique. The live piano music was the icing on the cake.

Read Reviews & was still surprised by how good the food tasted!
I was worried that something had changed in the restaurant b/c the flowers on the tables were fake and everything else in the elegant Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach is genuine and amazing. Also, there is what another reviewer mentioned about a dissonance between the Mexican setting and French menu...but once the food arrived, I got over that FAST. The food was simply delightful. Delightful! I would add that having Mexican hosts serve French food is simply the best of both continents! I have spent more time in France than Mexico and I have never encountered such gracious warmth as I have here. .. and the food! Oh my!

Boyfriend and I had a private, Thursday dinner. 2 excellent, attentive servers; beautifully prepared and presented courses; pianist; tableside chef's visit. We were the only 2 in the restaurant...7pm reservation...Very reasonable prices for this type of quality. Truly a Five Diamond experience!

 Always a great experience
We dine at Le Basilic whenever we come to Cancun. It is small, intimate, and elegant. This time, we strayed from our usual fish order and tried the canon of lamb. It was probably the best lamb we have ever eaten. We accompanied it with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine for a perfect meal. As always the service was superb (thanks, Yuri) and we were delighted with the inventive between-course treats. Our favorite this year was the basil popsicle palate cleanser! A close second was the "smoking" strawberries. Dessert was both beautiful and delicious. Coming to Le Basilic is an experience we both remember and look forward to repeating.

 Absolutely Awesome
We dined at Le Basilic when it first opened and were delighted that it is still flourishing. The restaurant has earned the AAA Five Diamond repeatedly and deservedly. We were greeted at the door by the manager, (who was a waiter when we first visited) and were promptly seated by Evalin, who introduced Luis, who was in charge of our service. This a truly elegant small restaurant, with tuxedo-clad waiters and magnificent silver service. We had an amazing dinner including the "mes voyages" salad , perfectly prepared snapper provencale in its own cocotte, grouper escalope with an amazing sea urchin flan, delightful treats between courses, and delicious chocolate cake with mint cream and rhubarb mille feuilles for dessert. The service was both personable and impeccable in every respect. After dinner, the chef came out to chat and hear our memories of the restaurant's early days. Every detail of service was considered--even a stool for my purse! This is a great value due to the exchange rate. We would never have been able to have a comparable experience in the US at the price we paid. Thanks to the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach for making this lovely restaurant available to us.

This was the best meal I've ever had in Mexico
We were staying at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach, and noticed this lovely restaurant. I was celebrating my birthday in Cancun, and wanted to make one night special. My husband didn't even have to make reservations and were seated promptly when we arrived. The atmosphere is elegant, the service beyond words, so attentive, and professional. The food was the best that I have ever experienced in Mexico. Although pricey which is to be expected, it was well worth the cost. They had a piano player who played the Happy Birthday song while four servers came up to my table to present me with a dessert tray holding a candle in the middle. No loud, obnoxious singing, just quietly watched me as tears came in to my eyes, and I blew out the candle. Beautifully done Le Basilic. We were presented with a sketching of ourselves dining by a local artist. He had it rolled up and ribboned for us to go. The staff all greeted us with thank you's and good bye's as we left this beautiful restaurant. We will be back.

 Dining at its Finest
This is not your typical Cancun dining experience. This French themed restaurant is a very upscale restaurant with live music, exceptional service, and very good food. All of the servers were incredibly friendly and helpful, making key suggestions about the menu. Everything was very well presented, as even the bottled water was poured into nice pitchers, rather than poured straight from the bottle. The service was very quick and the ambiance of the restaurant was very lovely and romantic. The food was very, very good as no one in our party of 6 was disappointed with what they received. I ordered the steak, which I should note is quite peppery, so if you're not a fan of pepper, consider ordering something else. All in all, this is a very upscale restaurant, and is priced accordingly, so don't go there expecting some of the cheap eats you tend to find in Cancun.

A purely wonderful experience. While the food was good the service made for a great evening of dining. Each coarse was perfectly paced and presented by an elite staff of servers. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing offering a wonderful view of the ocean. While dining we were both entertained visually by an artist work on a painting and musically by a pair of jazz musicians. Our two hour meal was both a dining and entertainment success. The professionalism of the servers had much to do with the joy of this evening.

 great food!!!!
When I looked at the menu and saw the portion weight I thought it might not be enough so I ordered soup. but, the whole meal ends up being 7 courses because they toss in 'pre-appetizers' and 'pre-desserts' and 'palate cleansers' and the like

 Should be Michelin rated
If you admire traditional French cuisine then Le Basillic is a must if you are in or anywhere near Cancun. The menu is understated but the food is outstanding. Nicely complemented by truly amazing service. The appetizers were varied and all had tremendous depth and originality. The main course selections were few but each a strong statement in its own way. For those of us who rate French cooking by the quality of the sauces, this place is nirvana. We even stumbled into a few excellent Mexican wines - who knew? Chef Eduardo Torres is a gifted practitioner and the use of local ingredients is nothing short of artistic. Every service includes a couple of surprises that make the entire experience immensely enjoyable.

 Excellent food and atmosphere
Beautiful restaurant, recommended by our bell captain. Live piano music, great service. Excellent delectable dishes - we both had fresh seafood. Mediterranean style food. Highly recommend.

 great food!!!!

As good as it gets in Cancun
This restaurant is located inside the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach hotel . Superb French food, impeccable service and elegant surroundings. Live jazz duo and on weekends, an artist will start and finish a painting in a couple of hours while you dine.

 Awesome
I feel this restaurant is a well kept secret! It is a beautiful restaurant in the hotel district. The service was impeccable and the prices were great for all the little extras you received. I have many dietary challenges and they were able to accommodate deliciously. We will definitely return next time in Cancun.

 Superb restaurant experience!
This restaurant claims to be the only top ranked in Cancun and it deserves to be. The tables are far enough apart to where there is no problem talking, and the restaurant has a lovely interior. The menu is limited, but very good, and everything is of excellent quality. The wine list is superb as well.

Great meal, not so great wine list.
We were dying for a good French meal and found this gem on TA. The food was inventive, tasty and a great representation of classic French food within being too traditional. I️ also thought it was a nice touch to include some additional tasting courses in between your chosen courses. However the wine list needs some work. I️ don’t know any established and respected French restaurant where it would be acceptable to sell Sutter Home or Berringer Rose’ wine. Someone else said it best, supermarket wine. Also no Pinot Noir or Burgundy wine by the glass or even half bottle? Yet 4 merlots and 3 cab savs. For a restaurant trying to position themselves in the high-end Michelin-starred world, unacceptable. A Sommelier is definitely needed here. Also, the restaurant knew we were celebrating our anniversary (I️ believe our hotel alerted them of this) however other than having a nice seat in the middle of the restaurant, there was no acknowledgement of our anniversary. The very nice hostess made mention of it when seating us, but that was it. A note to staff: it’s really bad form to mention you celebrating something and then do nothing to acknowledge it during the meal. Why bother bringing it up then? That really left a bad taste in our mouths.Other than that, the food was great and the place was nice so check it out if you love French food, but you are warned on the wine list, and it may not be the best place to celebrate an anniversary, as they do nothing to acknowledge it.

I know this is a 5 daimond restaurant, but...
I had high hopes for a Michelin 5-Diamond rated restaurant. I was sorely disappointed. Not that the restaurant wasn't beautiful and quiet. Not that there was anything missing. Just not up to par even for a regular restaurant. Let me tell you my experience:We arrived on time for our reservation at the restaurant. We were greeted kindly by the hostess. We were shown to a table, given menus, and told about the daily specials. No problem. I informed the waiter that I was allergic to tomato and gluten. He wrote it down, I assumed to inform the chef. That was an incorrect assumption! We carefully ordered our meal, getting input from the wait staff about the items since I was not familiar with some of the terminology. (This was by far the swankiest restaurant at which I had ever eaten.) They helped me to know if items were gluten free or not. There was a good dialogue about gluten free items needing to be served to me. After we had ordered scallops as an appetizer and filet mignon for main course, cooked medium, we waited for our meal. They brought gluten free bread for me and a roll for my husband. Then they brought a plate with three items on it. A green liquid (I finally figured out from the waiter that it was "pea cream"). They could not say if it was gluten free. There also was octopus. Then there was a little...biscuit-looking blob. I asked what it was. "Cheese only", I was told. I double checked in Spanish: "Queso solamente?" "Yes, just cheese." I cut into the "cheese" and it cracked like a cookie! It clearly had flour baked into it. I returned the plate untouched because it clearly was not safe to eat. They then arrived with another item that we did not order...a piece of fish...it was ok to eat.My scallops arrived, three good sized ones, that I began to "eat". I was unable to chew them! They were so tough that I actually could not eat more than the first one. I tried a small bit of the second one to see if it was better and when it wasn't, they were left uneaten. My filet mignon arrived. When I cut into it, the center was as red as you see in the meat cooler at the grocery store! This clearly was NOT cooked medium. I was able to eat the outside of the filet and had to leave the bloody rest of the portion on my plate. No one questioned why it was uneaten! We were given the chance to order dessert. I love raspberries and there was a raspberry item that I was not sure about. I asked. Yes, it is gluten free. Ok, "what is it?" I asked. It is a little tart with berries and cream in it. "A tart?" Isn't that made with flour? No! Just a tart! I looked the waiter in the eye and gave him my best "listen to me!" look. The I said, "I want you to ask the chef if it is gluten free." He came back and said that the chef will make it on a meringue. It WAS NOT safe for me to eat it the way it was in the menu! They brought a "popsicle" made of yogurt and basil before our dessert arrived. It was to clear the palate. The next thing to arrive was impressive. They poured water into a dish with a tiny piece of dry ice in it. Then they put a dish with some syrup and three small pieces of fresh fruit on the bowl with the smoke coming out. It was a "pre dessert".Our dessert arrived. It was made gluten free and was actually delicious. The meringue was a perfect bed for the berries and cream. After eating the dessert we sat at the table for quite some time. They removed the dishes but never came back or said anything else to us. We probably sat there for ten minutes waiting for ...who knows what. We finally got up and left. This was not what I would call a 5 diamond experience. I had better service in the week we were in Cancun at many other restaurants. I do not understand in this day how the chef and wait staff would be so uninformed about gluten free foods. I was very disappointed.

 Birthday Dinner
We ate at Le Basilic on a recent stay at Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach the restaurant was beautifully decorated, service was excellent . Appetizers were nice with lovely presentation. I had the Filet Mignon with pepper crust thought it tasted too peppery , My husband had the Lamb , thought this was a better choice but would order it Medium rare instead of medium .

 Very formal and elegant
If you enjoy French cuisine and splurging, then this restaurant located in Fiesta Coral is your place. I am not a big fan of French cooking but sampled a couple of dishes and was very impressed with both the presentation and the quality of the dishes. This would make for a great romantic dinner or to celebrate a special occasion and I am sure that fans of French cuisine will love it!

High Class Silver Service and Good Food
After a long dusty journey to Cancun from Mexico City we settled into the Fiesta Grand Americana and the opulence of Le Basilic. The ambiance is all candles, white table cloths and grand piano. The waiters performed faultless silver service, which was like begin transported into another world from Mexico given the average service we encountered elsewhere. The food was very nice, with creative flavours and good fresh produce. A range a amuse bouche was very tasty. Our fish and steak main courses were very well prepared. The prices are very high and I am afraid that the food doesn't quite meet that mark, but the food is still probably just shy of a Michelin star. However, if you accept that you are in a nice upmarket hotel with silver service you can justify the price and have a great occasion dining experience.

 Lovely evening
Food was delicious. Ordering wAs a little confusing as it was a French restaurant with staff who spoke Spanish, so we had a hard time explaining things to us. Several times they asked if there were food allergies but made no recommendations in that regard. But food was yummy and atmosphere very fine. Salad was amazing. Sea bass was delicious.

A little dissappointing for hype and price.
Restaurant did not live up to hype in my opinion but I have eaten at 4 and 5 star Michelin restaurants with celebrity chefs including Husk in Charleston so my standards may be a little high. Wine selcetion was dissappointing, cheap US grocery store wine at premium price. They need Sommelier and world class wine selection and some premium Bourbon to support quality of service. Overall good, but 3 diamond at best.

 Just Okay
I ate here because I wanted some peace and quiet at this hotel, and then they allowed children in this restaurant also! But at least those children were not screaming and running around. But others tout this as a "romantic" restaurant and I would not call it that, unless you think dining with kids around is romantic. Also, others claim it has a "strict dress code" which it does not. Which is fine by me, but believe me, all that means is you can't wear flipflops and a bathing suit and cutoffs, I suppose. People were in there in sneakers and jeans and hoodies, for example. Anyway, the food was okay, but nothing special. Very very small portions given you don't get anything with the main course (I had salmon which was good, but that meant you just got about a 4 oz piece of salmon and that was it, no vegetables or rice or anything). They did serve you some small bakery rolls if you wanted, but they were not that good. Nothing like the bread you'd get in a real French restaurant. They kept bringing these little one inch bites of stuff I had not ordered, which annoyed me. I don't even know what it was, the kind of food that is meant to be creative but isn't really very filing. One was some kind of butternut square ravioli, I think (one piece). Another was some small cup of green liquid, have no idea what it was. Finally, the wine list was absolutely horrible, I was shocked. I wanted a rose with my salmon. This place pretends to be French and there wasn't a single French wine on the menu that I saw (although I was looking by the glass, so I'm not sure). In any case, the only roses by the glass they had were Beringer and Sutter Home, I'm not kidding. This is the cheapest supermarket/drug store wine you can buy! And they were white zinfadel, not rose. I really don't like white zinfadel, it's too sweet. Given Provence has some of the best roses in the entire world that aren't even that expensive, I don't understand this wine list at all. It makes the restaurant look amateurish. Some reviewers seem to think this place has Michelin stars, but it doesn't. That five diamond stuff is AAA or Mobil or something, but I'm sure it couldn't even get one Michelin star.

Worst New Years Eve Dinner
My family went to this restaurant for new year's eve dinner / my dad's 60th birthday. It was by far the worst fine dining experience in my life. The presentation of the dishes was fine, but the quality of the food was the worst. I couldn't barely finish half of each dish. Most of my family had to leave the restaurant still hungry and unhappy. First, the soup was way too salty and I asked the manager to get it less salty. After 10 mins, It came out exactly the same. Scallop with oyster tasted fishy and oyster was not fresh. The lobster was overcooked and too dry. This dinner cost me 180 USD per person. Later when we check out we complained the hotel about the quality of the food, all we got was the just apology from the general manager.
