Great place to have breakfast lunch or dinner
Excellent service and very good food. Friendly, speaks good English and highly recommend. It was a five minute taxi ride and well worth it. Live music every night for couples and families. Breakfast Buffett, Fresh juices, fresh fruit and all kinds of entrees. We will be back.

Lazy Sunday Brunch
Just the way Sunday brunch should be...relaxed and chill with good, easy music. Only went here for brunch and the place was filled with locals. Not a single tourist in sight. The outdoor dining area was really great and felt like you were in someone's garden. The brunch buffet was a pretty decent size and the food was good. The food was solid local food and very much like what I've had in other Mexican cities. The live music was spot on... nice easy acoustic guitar. If you're looking for a loud, clubby, boozey brunch then this is NOT your spot. Staff and managers were attentive and friendly. Be sure to try to make reservations for outdoor seating. It was packed on a nice day. And yes, you should tip about 15%-20%. I've learned that they depend on this for their wages.

Brunch with the locals
Can’t say it enough: get out of the hotelzone and enjoy better food for better prices. Enjoy brunch at Marakame cafe and munch on tacos, eggs, and quesadillas the way they should be. Coffee and fresh fruit juice included. There is a nice quirky terrace and a guy playing guitar and singing without being too loud.

Excellent Restaurant
This is an excellent restaurant. I would suggest a nighttime visit for the best atmosphere. The food is excellent, the wait staff is superior and cater to your needs. The menu is good, although it could be a little more extensive, but they had what I liked, so I can't complain. The wine list was also good. Live music after 9PM. Highly recommended.

Cute restaurant with lively atmosphere
Marakame was the very first restaurant my family and I went to just after landing in Cancun for our vacation. The restaurant immediately drew our attention with its colors, live music, and indoor/outdoor seating areas. Our server Alfonso, was very attentive and friendly. Thank you for being patient with our big crazy family, Alfonso! Even though it was our first food stop of our 5 day trip, looking back it was one of our favorites and most memorable because of the great food and service. Thanks for the hospitality!

Green beautiful gardens, great location
This is a casual restaurant with a lovely terrace surrounded by trees which gives a sense of resort like place, we went there for breakfast and discover a great selections of juices and cereals.The buffet was well presented with good selection of Mexican eggs specialities, service was attentive and friendly, good value plus in terms of prices, definitely to be recommended.

Great restaurant. I always come here every time I get to Cancun, which is often. Great service, great food, not cheap, but well worth it. It is pretty close to the big hotel Ibis. About 1/3 of a mile behind the big Ibis. It is a restaurant in a tree, well kind of. Live music, but not too loud, so you can talk. Great place to bring a girl on a date too.

I often come to get their fondue that is excellent but today I went for breakfast and I wasnt disapointed neither. Fast service although I wasn't alone and their manager is always here trying to givr that extra care that is always welcome !

Romantic...Food Not So Much
The restaurant at night is nicely light decorated embracing a romantic feel to it. There was live music to add to the atmosphere. However, the food was not as good as one would expect. It is not bad, but it is not something you would consider returning to. Try this restaurant as a couple at least once. The service was good and a balcony table maximizes your experience with a nice view.

Great Juices and acceptable food
Marakame is on a secondary road, set back from the main tourist areas within Cancun, but is within a short walk of some of the less holiday holidays, such as the Ibis.It consists of a large external seating area on two levels, in front of a more conventional restaurant are on each floor. Service was a little iffy (dishes were brought up to the floor but not delivered quickly to our table), but overall the food wasn't too bad. There's an English language menu, but they don't seem to have many copies of it, and it doesn't make it clear which dishes are only served at breakfast time. There was a reasonable range of salads, pasta, pizzas, and few more typical Mexican dishes in the evening. However the best feature are the juices which, although not terribly cheap, mix all sorts of leaves, including sweet basil (albahaca), chaya (tree spinach) and nopal (cactus), alongside more or less exotic fruit such as mango, kiwi or pepino. I had a basil, spinach and mango one which was, well, err, interesting.

The good on this place is tasteful and enjoyable. The ambience is nice and refreshing.... The music is really well selected. Found this place by mistake.. We went next to the mini golf area... And decided to eat first... The drinks are the best part. And I loved the place. For those coffee lovers... They will keep the coffee coming on and on and on...

Delicious food, bad ending
Our night at the Marakame restaurant started off amazingly with a great atmosphere, beautiful setting and live music. The service was very quick. We had cheese and spinach empanadas to start and they were devine! I had the seafood pasta which was beautifully cooked but could of had more flavour. The cocktails were beautifully presented, tasted lovely but lacked alcohol? Our bill was very cheap for the service and the food and drinks that we enjoyed! However... when it came to money the waiter was very persistent that we gave him more tip.. he became quite rude and kept asking for more. We paid in pesos but he wanted the tip to be in American dollars (which we didn’t have as we are British)? Such a shame for a lovely romantic meal for 2 to be ruined by being hassled for more tip. I would still recommend the restaurant despite this little slip.

Went here with my family and really enjoyed it. The menu is large so they have a little bit of everything and it was well put together in total. The scenery of the restaurant feels local and well thought out with a lot of detail in the design without looking too gimmicky. The restaurant wasn't overcrowded with tourists but you can still ask for a menu in English. Not a bad restaurant to get away from the Cancun Beach strip. A friend invited me to lunch at Marakame, but do to a plane delay we arrived just before the buffet was about to close. No problem the waiter said and he was right. Everything was still fresh so that the late comers enjoyed the same as the early birds. The salad was crisp, though I missed my blue cheese dressing. The meats were tender and flavorful and the soups were to die for. They ran short of pastries. but the waiter brought others fresh from the kitchen right to the table. This is now one of my favorite lunch spots. Nice to relax and truly enjoy a meal after the flight in.

Visited with friends for Sunday Brunch, there is a decent variety of food. Barbacoa is good for Cancun standards,ask the lady of the quesadillas for freshly made tortillas to accompany it, quesadillas are tasty, however mole tamales not impressed by. The service is good , and the atmosphere is very inviting. Will return.

Great place with awesome food and great Staff
We came to dinner from the"zona hotelera", the food is wonderful and it is not pricy. The Staff is absolutely outstanding and friendly. Only if the band that was playing could do some happier songs, the musicians were good and the female singer a great voice; however all the sad songs about bad or ending relationships were very unnecessary, one felt like crying quite a few times during what should have been a great happy vacation dinner... Will sure return hoping for happy songs...

this restaurant was the best tasting when it opened 5 years ago..they must have changed the main chef for upstairs...the morning and lunch was not good down stairs then..now it is all changed but all I want is the chef who was here back then..yes it was slow because of all the stairs but it was fantastic..now they just do not have it..the music is fun the looks is nice but once you taste the drinks and exotic pizzas and food they once had you can not handle how bad it is now...bring back the original chef and we all will come back.....

hacks leadership
came for breakfast buffet today, friday- good food at a good price but I take issue with the fact that they wouldn't let my party of four sit outside (the outside areas was in use with people both inside and outside). First, the host claimed it was a smoking area and children are not allowed and as we had our 7 year old we couldn't sit there. When we pressed further and highlighted the fact no one was smoking we were told by this host it is a LAW. When we pressed further and asked other staff they admitted it wasn't law but their own policy. When we pressed further they said children sit there all the time at especially at the weekend. Too bad it took the whole meal for them to admit that the host just made up a rule on the spot and the others supported it to help her save face. Won't be back for that reason. (it wasn't a language issue because our party speaks Spanish..just a host on a power trip :-( )

this restaurant was the best tasting when it opened 5 years ago..they must have changed the main chef for upstairs...the morning and lunch was not good down stairs then..now it is all changed but all I want is the chef who was here back then..yes it was slow because of all the stairs but it was fantastic..now they just do not have it..the music is fun the looks is nice but once you taste the drinks and exotic pizzas and food they once had you can not handle how bad it is now...bring back the original chef and we all will come back.....

hacks leadership
came for breakfast buffet today, friday- good food at a good price but I take issue with the fact that they wouldn't let my party of four sit outside (the outside areas was in use with people both inside and outside). First, the host claimed it was a smoking area and children are not allowed and as we had our 7 year old we couldn't sit there. When we pressed further and highlighted the fact no one was smoking we were told by this host it is a LAW. When we pressed further and asked other staff they admitted it wasn't law but their own policy. When we pressed further they said children sit there all the time at especially at the weekend. Too bad it took the whole meal for them to admit that the host just made up a rule on the spot and the others supported it to help her save face. Won't be back for that reason. (it wasn't a language issue because our party speaks Spanish..just a host on a power trip :-( )

Very poor service
The place looked nice and had nice music and ambiance. There were more waiters than customers and it still took ten minutes for our order to be taken. They all just stood around chatting until I finally got ones attention. I had the blue pear pizza which was fairly average but points for being different. My plate was covered in tree clippings and the waiter watched me clean it myself never offering to replace it. Cancun is pretty bad in general and this is just another example.

The worst place to eat on Cancún
First of all, the service is extremely low and actually poor for a place that is nice from the outside. Aditionally, we ordered an Enchiladas and a Chilaquiles and the cheese was deciduous... And believe nothing can be worse than a rotten meal, but when we asked to the manager about a solution, he just asked: "Ok. Would you like to order other thing?" We said no, and he anyways charged us both dishes on the account. A terrible experience because of a disgutig meal and a pathetic manager.

Beautiful Place, Average Food and Service
I really love the atmosphere of this place. I don't like the idea of waiting almost 40 minutes for an appetizer with an empty empty restaurant. The ambience is really nice, the singer was very attentive and kind, we loved his voice. About the main course, one of us was serve first and the rest of the group 20 minutes later (what the waiter was thinking?). Lack of quality with the plates, I had the grilled octopus; it was very greasy, the corn is pre-cocked or frozen, bat taste. The pizza totally pale with an almost raw pasta. I highly recommend you to improve food since you have a privileged location and atmosphere.

Rude , slow , forgetful and full of excuses
You must be joking , such a beautiful place absolutely ruined by hostile and argumentative staff . One waiter was on top of his business but he was the only one and not mine. I will never return , not even to use the restroom. My waiter began arguing with me over how to pronounce a type of cheese , apparently he felt the need to argue with me on the correct way to pronounce its name , yes , correct for someone who doesn't know any better , but to raise his voice and argue ...... Unbelievable , food was just awful , cold , took more than 30 min to give my wife a burned , cold omelet with the wrong ingredients. Was this revenge from the waiter ? My eggs were undercooked , beans were cold , bacon also cold. Then when it began to rain our waiter hid inside and left us to gather everything . What a jerk .
