Xplor Park

Xplor Park is built around four main activities: zipline circuits through jungle canopy, amphibious vehicles that can be driven on land and through shallow water, underground paddling through cave systems on inflatable hammocks with stalactites overhead, and cave swimming in a large underground pool. There is also an evening version of the park called Xplor Fuego that operates on select nights with fire elements and atmospheric torchlight, creating a notably different experience from the daytime version. The park is focused entirely on active physical adventure — there are no cultural performances, wildlife exhibits, or beach relaxation areas.

Xplor is suitable for children who enjoy active physical adventure, but age, weight, and height restrictions apply to most of the main activities. Very young children and toddlers cannot participate in the ziplines or amphibious vehicles. Xplor and Xcaret are operated by the same company and located near each other south of Playa del Carmen, but they serve completely different purposes. Xcaret is a full-day eco-archaeological park blending nature, culture, history, wildlife, and a major evening show, with activities suitable for a wide range of ages. Xplor is exclusively focused on physical adventure — ziplines, off-road vehicles, cave paddling, and swimming — with no cultural performances, wildlife exhibits, or relaxed beach components. Xcaret is the better choice for families with varied interests or those wanting a broad experience. Xplor suits visitors who specifically want an active, adrenaline-oriented day.

Most visitors spend a full day at Xplor to complete the main circuits properly. The zipline courses and vehicle tracks are organized in loops that take time to run through, and the underground paddling section has a specific route that requires a sustained pace to complete. Including the cave swimming area, meals, and time between activities, a full day from opening to close is a realistic expectation. The park has on-site dining options. Some visitors choose to focus on one or two activities over a half-day, but the full Xplor experience is designed as an all-day outing.

Xplor is on Highway 307, approximately 6 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen and roughly 80 kilometers south of Cancun. From Playa del Carmen, a taxi takes around 10 to 15 minutes. From Cancun, organized transport packages are available through the park and most Hotel Zone hotels, with pickup and drop-off included. If driving, the park is well signposted with its own parking area. Combined transportation and admission packages are offered through the park's website and most Riviera Maya tour operators.

Xplor Fuego is an evening version of Xplor Park running on select nights, using fire and torchlight to transform the adventure circuits into a nighttime experience. The ziplines, amphibious vehicles, and underground paddling all take place after dark, with the routes lit by flames and atmospheric lighting that makes the cave and jungle environments feel completely different from their daytime character. Xplor Fuego is popular with adults and couples looking for a dramatic evening activity. Activities are the same as during the day, but the atmosphere is substantially different. Advance booking is recommended as availability on Fuego nights is limited.
